When you're making a male character into a woman you have to consider his relationship with masculinity when deciding if she would still be butch or if she would be more gender conforming. Is he butch because he actually likes it or because it's imposed on him

Spock would be femme

Dean Winchester would be one of those straight women who wear realtree hats + a lot of makeup except she's a closet case who keeps getting called a dyke because she is one & she goes and bleaches her hair in the hotel sink while grumbling about "just cause daddy taught me about guns doesn't mean I'm a *lesbian*"

#I see a lot of butch genderbent marty which is super fun and makes the most 1 to 1 sense #in the same way marty struggles with masculinity because of having traits that don't quite line up with traditional gender ideals #butch!girl!marty would struggle to prove her femininity to others due to the ways she doesn't fit female gender norms #But I think there is an argument to be had about girl!marty struggling with femininity but not in a butch way exactly #In the same way marty is an Average Boy girl!marty would be an Average Girl who behaves and expresses herself accordingly most of the time #the kind of girl who's like #Girls can throw a punch too!#but wears makeup and accessorizes and doesn't bat an eyelash at wearing skirts/heels/dresses n all that #She would be a little boyish but only to the extent it's societally acceptable for a teen girl #would bristle at the stereotype that girls are weak and helpless #Because marty as a character struggles to prove his masculine strength against accusations of its absence #girl!marty would try to prove the existence of her strength against societal impositions of ideal feminine docility #So instead of a 1-1 match it would be more of a reversal I guess #Accidentally wrote an essay in the tags again #For the record I do love butch!girl!marty but I feel like girl!marty should maintain that Average Nondescript Teenager aspect
