Never Made for These Times

I'm doing ICAD this year. I think this'll be my third year.

I made a little book out of 4x6 index cards using my cincher. I'm using my own prompts because I like having some sort of connection to the words. They're things I like/things that typically inspire what I make. For me, the challenge here is just starting/doing/finishing at all, so I take it easy and make it no pressure for myself.

Today I closed the last page of my journal. It began on January 20th, and now it’s complete. My goal this year was to fill two journals, and I still have a few months left — plenty of time to make it happen. Honestly, I adore this practice, so I doubt I’ll fall short.

But next year, I want more. I want stacks of journals, spines lined up like tiny monuments to memory. In 2023 I filled a whole one in a single month — a feat of ink and persistence. I’d love to do that again, to chase that rhythm, even if it takes trial and error to find it. It’ll be fun, like stitching little pieces of myself into paper until they become something whole.
