As Alicentâs and King Vicerysâs first daughter you knew you would have to marry whoever they picked for you eventually. Imagine your surprise when Rhaenyra proposed to wed you to her firstborn son, Jacaerys.
The reunion was meant to discuss the future lord of the tides. A matter that kept both families in edge, you had listened unspeakable things come out of your mothers mouth about the legitimacy of Rhaenyras children.
âPlain featuredâ she called them.
âBastardsâ
After all, they were your family, you were their aunt. You had always had a clear head in this matters. You didnât let your blood boil like your mother or your brothers, yet you didnât live in another world like Helaena. You were realistic and smart.
But for the most part, you were kind.
Thatâs what Jacaerys had always appreciated.
When the offer came to the table. Vicerys approved the marriage without doubting. You could see how deteriorated he was, also how tired he was of the trouble between both families. You marrying Jace sounded like a perfect way of connecting. Lucerys would marry Rhaena in the future, keeping the velaryon blood strong.
You would marry Jacaerys, keeping the Targaryen blood strong.
You would marry Jace. Your would be queen by his side. As you drank the wine from your cup, the thought got into your head. Your skin became cold.
You would be his.
By the time you gathered the courage to look into his direction. His gaze was already on you.
He wore the signature Targaryen look, the black tunic with the three dragons imprinted and the red cape, you thought he already looked like a king, because he did. Everyone knew he was the perfect heir, he had that aura to him, that made him royal, legit, powerful, something that you cannot fake or buy.
Perfect dark curls cascading softly down the sides of her face. His jaw was set, yet his eyes regarded you gently; he offered a calming gesture and a small smileâone that vanished quickly when Aemond suddenly stood up.
âI just wanted to give my congratulations to this new coupleâ Aemond smiled fakely, his voice like a snake under the rocks.
Aegon, sitting next to him, looked at him with a sneaky smile behind his cup, which he already re-filled a couple of times in the spare of the night. Alicent swallowed hard her food. Daemon looked unbothered, with Rhaenyra by his side, she looked sharp.
âI hope you have many healthy children in the futureâŚiâm sure many strong children will come outâ
Jace's jaw tenses so much you could swear you heard it crack. His eyes darken like two shadows; anger rises through his veins, even tho he stays carefully quiet and still, you know itâs bounded to explode.
âAs strong as their father.â
âAemond.â Alicent tries to cut him out.
âI dare you to say that againâ Jace lifts his face defiantly.
âWhy? tâwas only a compliment, donât you think yourself strong?â
You didnât know what went through your mind, probably not much. Anger had blurred your judgment. By the time Jace stood up; your hand had already impacted against Aemondâs face, more specifically, in his patch that covered the spot Lucerys had once stabbed years ago.
The whole table gasped. Aemondâs face turned completely on the other direction by your punch. The guards rushed to intervene, they stopped mid track when Vicerys lifted his hand. You could hear at the end of the table the giggle of exciment Luke had to hide. Aemond stayed still with his hands in the table, shocked. Enraged.
âI think your speech endedâ you said loudly, you had wanted to do that for so long. âThank you for the congratulations brotherâ you forced a smile. You searched the table and grabbed your cup, lifting it up.
Looking at everyone, your gaze stoped at Jace, in front of you, still standing, you didnât identify his expression. But you knew he was surprised. You lifted your face;
âTo my soon husbandâ
A mischievous little smile played on his lips; he didn't hesitate to raise her glass alongside yours.
âTo my soon wifeâ The way his deep voice delivered those words made it feel like a caress against your ear.
This time, all lifted their cups.

The wedding came fast, two days later to be sure. Rhaenyras family needed to go back to dragon stone soon. But the wedding had to be performed on Kings Landing. Vicerys wanted to be present, and his days were counted, his mobility almost none.
Your held your hands over your ceremony dress with nerves. Jace stood in front of you. Both of you with the traditional clothes of your houses. The priest spoke loudly. You didnât hear much tho. Jace took the blade, making a clean cut on his hand, almost without flinching, you looked at his hand while fidgeting with your own. His thumb recollected a little of the blood in his palm and he placed it on your forehead with care, a little line.
His other hand lifted your face a little, your lips parted unconsciously. He offered you a focused look, then traced a line over your lips with even more gentleness. Before you could know, your hands held his with strength. Connecting the cuts, Sealing the bond.
âCan i?â
He asked, lifting his hands to cradle your face gentlyâas if you might break, his fingers on your jaw felt harsh, his fingers tips marked by endless hours of swords. He wanted your permission, but more than anything, he wanted you to want it.
You nodded, your eyes showing your nervousness.
He leaned down slowly, and you tilted your head for him, he pressed his lips against yours, he countered the hardness of his fingers; his soft lips met yours, as delicate as a petal. You pressed your hand against his chest, a sharp sigh escaping your lips.
He rested his forehead on yours, noses touching, heavy breathing. The kiss had been short but intense, full of something you couldnât place yet. When he opened his eyes, they glistened towards you, sharply.
You smiled with your lips closed, failing to hide your nerves. You tried to dismissed it, gathering all your courage to meet again his lips, he responded inmediately with surprise, his hand still resting on your jaw, making pressure. You didnât move your lips, you just pressed them on his the same way he did before.
It wasnât your first kiss. You had once kissed a guard while drunk on your fifteenth birthday. it hadnât been pretty or meaningful like this. It had been rushed and stupid, you did it for the mere act of doing it and knowing how it felt.
In this moment, you wished you waited for him.
There was something that was still intact for him tho.
Only for him.
The way he held you made you feel like you were made of glass, like you were valuable.
He ended the kiss leaving a little peak on your now wet lips.
You look behind you and smile at everyone cheering. You felt shy remembering where you are, you hide your face in Jaceâs chest.

The rest of the evening had been the party, everyone drank wine and celebrated our marriage in the big hall. Big flowers decorated the candle lit hall, lords and ladies chattering. Alicent had dropped the party a while ago to help Vicerys into bed.
Who wasnât chattering, was dancing, like Lucerys danced along with Rhaena in the ballroom, your sister Helaena danced near with a very drunk Aegon, who couldnât really follow her steps but laughed loud like a hound and jumped like a kangaroo.
At least when he was drunk he paid a little attention to her.
You smiled at the sight. Everyone lookedâŚcontent, the most they had looked in months, this marriage had been truly a good choice.
Among the crowd, your gaze followed Jace. Long ago he had been intercepted by a group of ladies excited to congratulate him and request things for the people. You knew they were full of bullshit, they wanted to be close to him and take every chance they got to unconsciously touch his arm.
Every time you thought he would come back to you, another group came, and then other, lords, ladies, sers. You finished your second cup of wine with a sigh. One of the first moments of the night were you werenât speaking falsely sympathy to any kind of âimportant peopleâ.
Now you were the wife of the heir to the throne, people wanted good impressions, people wanted to make sure the next king in line remembered them.
âDo you want me to retrieve your cunt of a husband?â Aemond snaked beside you, you couldnât help but let a laugh scape your mouth, wine made everything a little funnier.
Also, it was the first time you took more than one cup of it.
âLower your voice!â you pushed his arm. He let a smile slip, he meant every insult, but after so many years you had learnt to ignore him.
âWill he notice if i leave?â your gaze followed him like a eagle.
âOhâŚim sure he would, i dont know if you noticed but he has kept an eye on you every time a lord came to speak to youâŚYou look like a psychopath watching him thoâ
âI need some air.â you grab a new cup from a servant passing by and slip through the crowd. Leaving the big hall behind. You truly just needed some air to come back, but you would be lying if you said you didnât do it also to see if he would search for you.
In that case, you wanted a little of quiet with your husband.
You opened a door expecting to find the balcony, it must have been the two cups of wine in your stomach, because instead, you entered the library, looking around quietly, there were no guards, candles lit but the place was mostly dark.
You spent some minutes just gathering your thoughts. The alcohol in your veins made everything more relaxing, but the only thing that stayed was the thought of your wedding night.
You let a big sigh, moaning in frustration when you drank the last drop of the red wine in your cup. You shouldnât attempt to get drunk on your wedding night, but it seemed to be the best way to fight the electricity in your body. You slapped the cup from the table in a silly act, letting a giggle when it bounced in the stone floor.
âI hope you are not hiding away from me, cause in that case, youâll have to find a better hiding spotâ
You felt like a deer in red light. You turned around pressing your hips in the table. He stood leaning against the pillar of the library, staring with a slight smile.
âI was not hiding from you, i was hiding fromâŚAll the people that talked to me about things i donât really care forâ Your mouth ran faster than your brain, his face delighted at the honesty.
âThen we are hiding from the same thingâ he sympathized. As the heir to the iron throne, he was used to it, but for you this kind of attention was new.
âI thought you were going to tell me to go back.â you say tilting your head. He shook his head, standing straight and slowly moving closer.
âIf my wife doesnât wish to go back to the celebration then she wonâtâ he stopped his tracks when his feet came across the cup you had just kicked front the table. âWere you drinking wine?â
âNope.â you said quick, your lips curled into a smile you couldnât hide. He called your name, now in front of you.
âI wouldnât be mad if you were, I left you alone for a long time, i apologize.â
He let a big sigh and it seemed like his shoulders dropped, like letting a weight go.
âI would never tell you what you can or must do, but i could tell you more than two cups of wine is a dangerous amount for a first timeâ
âThe consequences of leaving me stranded.â you tease. He let a little chuckle, rolling his eyes, but he felt guilty about it, he wished all night to be by your side, cussing out in his head every time another lord spoke to him. He took a step closer.
âHow can i apologize enough to my bride?â He asked in an expectant tone.
The way your stomach made a violent twist was embarrassing.
âYouâll have to make it up to meâ your hands gripped the table you were leaning on. Jaceâs face tilted slightly, he grinned, taking a step closer, now you were trapped between him and the table.
His eyes traced you while before lifting a hand to put a strand of you hair behind your hair. You lifted your jaw at him instinctively, that moment made his gaze drop directly to your lips. His jaw was set, like fighting the urge to throw himself at you.
âCan i touch you?â he whispered with restraint.
âIm your wife now, of course you can Jaceâ you reaffirmed. He smile satisfied before leaning down completely. His lips pressed against yours more fiercely than earlier the day, you gasped when you felt his hands going around your waist and bringing you flushed against him. Your hand flew instant to his neck.
He opened his mouth slightly more, tilting his head to get better access, moving his lips swiftly against yours, you followed his movements, your hand grasped his hair delicately, pulling a little hair. It must have been a switch, in that movement he pushed your waist against the table making your hips pressed totally between him and the dark wood.
You were unsatisfied when he broke the kiss with a mischievous smile, shaking his head.
âWhat is so funny?â you said confused.
âLiar, i can taste the wine on your mouthâ he murmured, his fingers traced circled on your hips over your dress.
âWrong, you might have to taste againâ this time he laughs truly, shaking his head. You leaned to kiss him again but he pulled back.
âYour drunkâ
âNo im not!â
âYou would never be this bold soberâ His eyes looked at you with so much care, you were his painting.
âWell, make the most of itâ
âI could never deshonor you like thatâ the seriousness of his voice surprised you.
âWeâre just kissingâ you say in a playful tone; you know very well how quickly things can get out of hand.
âExactly, and i donât tend to challenge my own self controlâ
You looked fascinated. He smile incredulous.
âDonât look at me excited, itâs wrongâ he scolded you.
âIm your wifeâ you remind him, proud.
âYouâre still you to me, respecting you is the most important thing to me. Assuring whatever we do is consensual between both of us, is also a big thing to meâ
âThereâs many ways you could deshonor me, and as my husband they donât really count as deshonoring anymoreâ his eyes darkened.
âWhat are you implying?â you stayed quiet, looking at him in the dark of the library. The fire of the candles and the moonlight gave you a vision of his face. Your hand snaked around his neck again, now dropping slowly to his collar line, you grabbed his tunic and pulled him to you. He melted, not having the strength to keep you far, he would let you do anything.
This kiss was hungrier, you grasped his hair, he gripped your hips with pressure, a pressure that could be strong if he didnât try so hard not to be rough and respect your limit.
You felt his tongue brush against your lips asking for permission, testing the waters. You opened your mouth letting him in, his tongue now went fully into your mouth, you couldnât help but let a satisfied sound on his mouth, pushing yourself against him, he pushed you back to the table.
You were both experimenting, you hoped to be his first kiss, you doubted it by the way his mouth moved with such confidence and dominance, he knew exactly what he was doing.
He broke the kiss with troubled breath.
âWe have to get backâ he rushed to say, his body tense. Your brows forrow;
âI want to stay with youâ you pouted, your nose brushed his, your hand trailed against his collarbone.
âNoâŚWe canâtâ he shook his head âFor the sanity of my mind, we have to get backâ
âDid i do something?â your voice trembled with doubt, he grabs your face a places a gently kiss against your temple.
âNoâŚYou didnât do anything wrong i justâŚâ he takes a step back, his hands stay on your waist, caressing. âYou canât make those noises and expect me to keep it togetherâ
He rested his lips on your forehead.
âWe have a whole night ahead, just get back with me, iâm staying with you for the rest of the night, we say our goodbyes and then i take you back to your chambers, alright?â
He knew you werenât drunk, but you were a little tipsy, he wanted to make sure you were alright and that at the ended of the night you slept safely. If you wanted him to sleep with you, he would, but is he had to sleep in a chair or on the cold floor just to make sure you were okay, he also would.
âWill you sleep with me tonight?â you said innocently, he smiled at your question, it could be taken both ways. He took it the innocent way.
âWhatever my wife wants.â
You both smiled bright.
