Venezuela was hit by two earthquakes yesterday, a 7.2 and a 7.5. Many parts of the country have been reduced to rubble, and areas of Caracas have been flattened. Their infrastructure has already been under immense strain. Here's how you can help:

It is a little difficult for me to format this information, as I am getting it through WhatsApp messages and Instagram reels, but I will be using this post to add collection centres outside of Venezuela. I will not be using this platform to spread information for those who are inside Venezuela as I know there are better platforms for that.

Most of the information I share will be in spanish and I also will not be doing any translation work. The addresses are clear and the items needed are universal in every catastrophe of this magnitude.

We Love Foundation: Provinding food, water, medical support, hygiene kits, shelter supplies, logistics, and direct support for vulnerable families on the ground. They have worked with global partners and Venezuelan nonprofits for the past 13 years.

The Gio Foundation: Humanitarian and animal aid nonprofit organization accepting donations through their portal.

Aldeas Infantiles SOS: Accepts donations in bolívares (Venezuelan currency) through their Venezuelan branch. Donations in foreign currencies can be sent through Aldeas Infantiles SOS Spain.

Save the Children’s Emergency Fund: Donations will go towards providing urgent, life-saving support to Venezuelan children.

UNICEF Spain: Has launched an Emergency Fund for Venezuelan children.

Miami-based Venezuelan American Chamber of Commerce Foundation: Launched a fundraising campaign to provide food, water, medicine, shelter and emergency relief.

World Central Kitchen: Providing fresh meals to communities in need in Venezuela.

Caritas Venezuela: Accepting both venezuelan and foreign donations.

Alimenta La Solidaridad: Activated their humanitarian network to support communities affected by the earthquake and deliver aid where it is needed the most.

International Medical Corps: Deployed members of their in-country team to the affected region to assess needs, working in close collaboration with local officials and emergency responders.

The House Project: Providing emergency humanitarian aid to those who need it most.

Fundación ACNUR Argentina: Independent, non-profit organization that works to raise public awareness and secure funds to support the humanitarian aid programs of ACNUR (the UN Refugee Agency).

Emergency Appeal by Healing Venezuela: Healing Venezuela is a UK based charity focused on alleviating the health crisis in Venezuela.

SOS Venezuela Appeal by People In Need: People in Need is a Czech non-governmental, non-profit organization active all over the world.

Venezuela was already a devastated country, and this just made everything a million times worse.

All these campaigns/fundraisers I'm sharing have been verified.

on the 24th of june, a national holiday commemorating the battle of carabobo during the war of independence as well as st. john's day, at around 6pm, venezuela was hit with back-to-back 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes.

i thought the bombing of caracas in january 3rd earlier this year was the scariest thing i'd experienced. i take that back. this was the scariest thing i've experienced in my life. and the thing is i wasn't even hurt, my building took little to no damage and my family is fine and accounted for (thank god for that!) but i feel so sick because the damage has been devastating in other parts of the country and i can't stop thinking about the thousands of people who lost their homes, their loved ones and their lives throughout this whole thing, and how the death toll will continue to rise as hospitals are understaffed and rescue teams are underequipped. i'm enraged because we are so underprepared for a disaster like this, because this government doesn't give a fuck about its people and the money that could've gone for disaster prevention and relief was all pocketed by the regime. blood on their hands, if there was even room for any more than they already had.

it's 9am as i type this and i haven't slept at all since yesterday. i felt aftershocks through the night and even right now. some of them might have been my own paranoia and stress from the situation but others were definitely very real.

i'm still trying to process it. this is the biggest natural disaster to hit venezuela in our lifetime.
