TRUST ME TRUST YOU

Here's one of my favourite Sechskies Inkigayo performances of "Stop It" from 99. It features oversized clothes, goggles, knife cuts, bleached hair and Jaijin wearing eyeliner. 🥰

Also important: Eun Ju is from Busan. While I do not know her situation, I do know that Jaijin only had a semi-stable living situation in Seoul at the time, living with a fellow Sechskies member (also from Busan) at various places, because Sechskies did not live in a dorm. Again, Eun Ju was 16 yrs old when she joined YG’s company. This is just my speculation bc I don’t know her situation, but I can see how it would be very easy for a trainee that young and from that far away to end up being extra reliant on their company (and CEO).

Sechskies disbanded in 2000, which deeply upset Jaijin, who even ran away to try and prevent the disbandment from happening. In 2016, he mentioned that his mother was also deeply upset about the disbandment, telling him, to “never visit Busan again.” 

In 2001, when Eun Ju is 20, YG starts dating her secretly. He was 32. They would date secretly for nine years. In 2002, Eun Ju debuted in SWI.T as the maknae, and YG purposefully let the group flop so that she wouldn’t get too popular. They disbanded in 2004.

In 2006, Lee Jaijin started working at a game development company as “skilled industry personnel” for his mandatory military service. The same year, Eun Ju and Jaijin’s father passed away from cancer.

In July 2007, Jaijin’s special service at the game development company was cancelled by the army bc they found out Jaijin was working on game design instead of doing what he was SUPPOSED to be doing (information processing + software devlopment). He was then served an enlistment notice for active duty. Jaijin filed for a suspension of this enlistment + administrative lawsuit against the Military Manpower Association. His enlistment was suspended until a verdict was announced.

In May 2008, Eun Ju and Jaijin’s mother passed away. Apparently, Jaijin had been taking care of her at the hospital, while also dealing with his troubles with the Military Manpower Administration. In April 2008, the court upheld the army’s decision to cancel Jaijin’s special service and re-enlist him as an active duty soldier. Jaijin enlisted shortly after.

In March 2009, Lee Jaijin was officially reported as AWOL (away without leave) by the Ministry of Defense. He had been receiving treatment for severe depression (and probably other mental health issues) at military hospitals, which had been triggered by the combined stress of his parents illnesses and deaths, and his lawsuit with the military. This is my speculation, but I think he probably had some sort of mental breakdown. Jaijin was Eun Ju’s only surviving family member. In April 2009, after 33 days, Jaijin contacted Eun Ju from an inn in Daegu (I read somewhere that it was their mother’s hometown, but now I can’t find my source for that anymore so idk). Jaijin was arrested by the military police after talking with Eun Ju, and in June 2009 he was sentenced to two years probation + to serve the extra 33 days that he had missed.

In March 2010, YG revealed that he had been dating Eun Ju since 2001. The couple got married in May 2010 (with no ceremony), and Eun Ju gave birth to their first daughter in August 2010. It’s been said that they got married because Eun Ju got pregnant, which would have happened in November 2009. Jaijin was discharged from the army later in August 2010.
