Höbinger flicks the ball past a defender and pulls another 2 opposing players towards her -> Kearns starting her run towards the space left behind -> Miri Taylor waiting in the box and making sure she has space away from the centre back -> Höbinger, still with the ball, slides it past the leg of one of the opposing players trying to defend her, perfectly timed onto the path of a running Kearns -> Kearns simply runs with the ball then pulls it back, between the two centre back, right where Taylor needs it -> Miri Taylor hits it past a defender and the goalkeeper, and into the back of the net. ✨

Buying Melwood for Liverpool Women is good. Selling it and overlooking them in the first place was a joke.

Melwood, the place where Bill Shankly’s ethos first took root, is a perfect starting point, but FSG must understand there is no finish line to cross. Investment and support has to continue and increase. That drum will not stop banging. And so just as Mac Allister’s arrival must signal the start of a midfield rebuild for the men’s team, Melwood has to signify something as meaningful for Liverpool Women. It is long overdue.
All that said, while I'm still critical of FSG (as I always am and as all football fans should always be of their club's owners), I think this is the most hopeful I've been for Liverpool Women.

Further investment in Melwood's facilities is expected to take place, so the players will begin pre-season elsewhere before moving in well in advance of the 2023-24 WSL season. They will continue to play their home matches at Prenton Park.
