Creepy insight into the nanny’s head in this novel. A little of ‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle’ story here. The best parts for me were the thoughts from both Louise (the nanny) and Myriam (the mother). The cold narrator adds so much to this novel. The description and detail pulls you in. I found I was more pulled in and drawn by a couple of the children’s stories than the others. I feel that I got to know more about some characters and less about others, which I feel made me invest less in their story. Overall, I enjoyed the premise of the novel and the lessons which can be inferred here. I understand that how the Gold children responded and handled the news is what would ultimately determine whether the prophecy was fulfilled or not.
