Here's what I like about her: she's sweet, a good listener, and genuinely non-judgemental. She's close to my age (2 years younger) so she's had similar experiences, whereas my last therapist was so much older than me that like she didn't even understand how social media works lol.

Here's my concerns:

1. I came to her specifically to explore my body image issues and weight issues etc. I chose her because her profile stated she specializes in these areas. However, it appears that what she meant by that is she used to be 300lbs, had weight loss surgery, had several plastic surgeries, and is now a professional boudoir and playboy model. It's hard to look at someone who looks incredible and tell them that I feel hideous and insecure. She says she understands, and I'm sure she does, but it's like okay... you were me... then you spent thousands of dollars to completely change yourself and now you get paid because of how attractive you are. How does that help me feel better about my body? Like I'm looking at this woman who looks like an absolute dream, wearing a tight black dress and stiletto heels, and she's telling me she understands me. It's hard to sort out in my brain. My last therapist was similar in that she was a 120lb blonde lady who is always on a diet. It's like... can I just have a normal person who isn't super conventionally attractive? Like y'all are bringing out my insecurities even more. Anyway

2. All she's done so far is validate everything I say. She's not asking me questions or trying to explore my feelings. She listens to me say how I feel, then she self discloses something about herself that proves she understands. She's told me she has histrionic personality disorder which is categorized by needing excessive attention. So that explains all this surgery and model stuff but it's like girl I don't have that lol. I am happy to stand in the back of the room and be quiet. So idk i can't relate.

3. It feels more like friends than therapist and client. Like it's just one big venting session. She's not introducing me to new ideas or exploring things that provides a new perspective. I'm concerned about her not using therapeutic skills outside of active listening which anyone can do.
