Say how you found the dragon, what you like about it, and anything else that’s nice. Or whatever you want really just tell them how nice their dragons are and how great they’re doing

Usually when I write lore for my dragons I divide it into three paragraphs - their past, their present and their personality. I find breaking it up like this helps me keep it understandable and short, as well as making it easier to write rather than one big frightening chunk of words (though you may prefer it like that!) Some users even use the descriptions of materials/trinkets/familiars/apparel/etc to help inspire their lore, and some use the existing canon lore of FR (popular example: The Shade) to shape their lore world.

It might just be me, but I prefer using a word processor (e.g Microsoft Word or Google Docs) to write and frequently save my lore in before transferring it to the description of the dragon. Sometimes FR might bug out or your computer might go offline, and if you wrote a good 300+ words in the description without saving…

One more thing, don’t be intimidated by other peoples lore. They could have 150+ dragons each with paragraphs upon paragraphs of lore and a very decorative template, and that doesn’t mean you have in any way failed at writing lore (there’s no such thing!) It’s ok to not use a template because you don’t understand coding, and it’s ok if you can’t get it all done in a week:

It’s taken me 6 months just to get my first page and half of my 2nd page complete, and even less than half of them have a template. 

Lore should be a fun and creative experience, like art but with more typing! However if you don’t feel up to writing, don’t force yourself to do it. I’m sure 99.9% of the FR fanbase would rather you take time off to rest up than bother you about a fictional dragon story.

Another option - if you aren’t quite the writer but have a ton of ideas - is to commission lore from other users on here or in the Creative Corner. Of course care should be taken when ordering - you might have to wait some time - but the CC always has users offering discounts or even free snippets to help you, or if you’re particularly wealthy some users will even write out the whole lot and template it too!

I’ve dabbled with it in my (feckin unwritten) lore due to having a dragon with differently colored eyes, associating the “odd color” eye with a strong surge of magic of the opposing element, but hell yes, this is something I’d love to read other people’s ideas on

Oooo it would be interesting if magic could potentially work like recessive/dominant genes (but…like…weirder). An earth dragon who has one parent who’s…. let’s say lightning, could potentially pass that kind of magic down to their kid. Maybe whether or not it’s recessive or dominant depends on the weakness of the magic towards each other (like there’s no percentage of how dominant a flight magic is per say, but fire is weak to water so a dragon with water and fire parents would have a higher chance of getting and passing down water traits while still having the potential to get/pass down fire ones?)

That sounds super cool! I’ve taken a bit of that and a bit of the Flight personality archetypes provided by FR and state that while a dragon’s flight alignment it’s the most influential in their magic and most aspects of their personality, the elemental alignments of their relatives and the dragon’s own strongest or most defining personality traits, goals or ambitions can and will shape their magic/alignment. 

I.e. one of my high priests of the Gladekeeper is entirely devoted to the cause of spreading her word and helping her power grow, not caring as much about the means- she’s a Nature dragon, fitting most of their archetype, but as a somewhat charlatan, deeply involved in manipulation nets she’s grown close to Shadow, becoming a secondary alignment of sorts, still much weaker than her connection to Nature. I also like to reflect that by changing the hues of my dragons’ eyes when I draw them!

What was the chance! I got two lil tree twins from a wide-range pair. They’re both male and 20k in the AH; their colors are Tan/Honeydew/Leaf.

oh man, Barwyn is one spoiled imp boy! the purples are all so lovely together… i overall just love him. i don’t recall seeing very many dragons who pull off that accent! and the familiar is matching him perfectly!

I’ve been experiencing some kind of extreme fatigue for the last two weeks and I don’t know what’s causing it yet. Extreme as in I can’t walk up the stairs without my legs shaking and driving for more than a few minutes just wipes me out. I’m able to get out of bed and sit through classes but that’s pretty much it. I have to make it through today before I can drag myself home and collapse (and somehow also get a blood test done this weekend). I don’t know if I’m anemic or my adrenals are shot or what, but I’ve never felt this tired in my life.
