Happy 25 years to Halo Combat Evolved, the game who kicked off one of the most nostalgic franchises of my youth! I’ll never forget my first feelings of wonder traversing the alien ring world, or the way it made me feel to have a supercomputer call me a barbarian in a way that made me like it😳
Halo may look just like any other sci-fi shooter from the early 2000s, but at its core it is a truly transcendent tale of courage in the face of impossible odds, and the heavy burden knowledge beyond comprehension can place on even the most insightful of minds. It sum is more than the whole of its parts, a sentiment I think all halo fans who still find themselves being drawn back to it after a quarter of a century realize.
