Lingering Twilight

I have a story to tell

The twinkle of a distant light..

A baby's teddy bear..

Two eyes that crinkled

At the hint of a smile..

A silent stream..

Gossamer thin memories

Enfold my brain

In an embrace so cold

That my heart forgets to beat .

The fragments, the echoes ..

The shadows swirl around

Uprooting every sprout

Of my conscience

As i freefall into a reverie ..

The line has blurred so much

That I donot know

Where the dream ends

And reality starts

Or if the story is mine anymore

Tell me

Is it true that

Loss feels less of a loss

The inimitable chaos

The bludgeoning despair

The impenetrable gloom

The insoluble conundrum

The incessant anguish

Meandering into the horizon

The autumn splendor beckons

And I breathe in the earthy scent

The crisp cool breeze

Tastes of the fall colors.

I look back at my footsteps

Etched in the dust and dirt

At times I have stopped and stared

At times I have broken into a run

And here i stand now

At the brink of another bend

If I make a choice

What destiny should I opt for?

The one that sets me free

Or the one that takes me somewhere?

Should I trust my mind

Or rather follow my heart?

I marvel at life

That offers a road at every turn

The chosen path charts your voyage

Lay the precipice of emotion .

You try to cling on,

With a resolve that weakens

Precariously, second by second..

But the depths

Entice you with passion .

Pray tell..

What would it be

That makes you more human?

Holding fast to reason
