I keep seeing this picture and similar ones and it keeps giving me thoughts. Yeah I do agree with the message ! And these animals are hated by many peoole !! But let's be honest. These are still fairly conventionally cute. They're big eyed fluffy affectionate pretty intelligent mammals and birds. So today, I'm offering y'all my own version.

flavor of the week

muse a and muse b have been best friends since high school, always toeing the line between friendship and something more. muse b has a habit of dating the wrong people while muse a quietly stays by their side, nursing a long-held crush. now, as adults, muse b is dating yet another shitty person who treats her like dirt and muse a is done playing the backup. tension builds, jealousy simmers, and muse b starts to realize maybe the one they've always needed is the one who’s been there all along.

all the small things

muse a is in a small (but up and coming) band, muse b is their chaotic road manager or photographer. they’re constantly bickering, but there’s that one night, in that one shitty motel, where everything shifts. now the band’s getting attention, feelings are getting messy, and neither of them can admit what happened matters.

muse a is stuck in a dead-end job and an even worse relationship. muse b is a stranger they meet in the city: a con artist, a liar, or someone pretending to be something they’re not. they start a dangerous affair built on secrets, fake names, and false identities. but the connection is too intense to stay casual, and neither of them knows how to be honest without losing everything.

muse a and muse b have been in a years-long, off-and-on mess — not quite dating, not quite just friends. muse a always cares more, tries harder, holds it together while muse b pulls away and comes back on repeat. now muse a’s pulling back for real, tired of drowning in it, and muse b has to decide if they’re ready to finally show up or let it all go.

muse a has always watched muse b from a distance: popular, confident, constantly surrounded by people who don’t really 'see' them. muse a does. they always have. now they’re getting closer... too close. late-night conversations, lingering touches, secrets whispered between the lines. but muse b is taken, and muse a is tired of being quiet. what starts as a subtle crush turns obsessive, electric, and dangerously hard to hide.

muse a and muse b are dating, but everything about it feels performative. the sex, the power plays, the silence that follows. one of them is obsessed with control, the other with being wanted. it’s not love, but something that masquerades as it. and as the relationship keeps spiraling into something neither of them recognizes, one of them starts to want out and the other doesn’t take it well.

A Handy Guide to Plotting RP Scenes

Sometimes, you’re just overflowing with creativity and a whole heap of ideas. Other times your mind might be coming up blank. Plotting can be tricky for some, just as much as it can be easy-peasy for others. Here are some tips to plotting so that everyone can feel like they are contributing to the planning stages of RP. This avoids folks feeling like they are the one doing all the heavy lifting, avoids burnout, and may even result in a little bit of pride for knowing that you could bring something to the table.

Option one: Start with a general theme that you might like to explore with your character. Below are just some very vague examples, but they should give you an idea of what I mean:

Do you want to explore how they handle loss?

Could be a sudden passing, or maybe they lost a battle/fight/etc, maybe a friendship fell apart, there is more than one type of loss.

How about getting some really good news?

Maybe it’s something they have been waiting to hear for a long time or maybe it’s an unexpected surprise.

What if someone they had a falling out with in the past comes to mend fences? What if someone they thought died actually lived, or they have a run-in with a person that has it out for them?

Do they secretly have a warrant/bounty out for them? Are they wanted for something? Maybe it was legit, maybe it was a mistake or a ploy to frame them.

Maybe your muse uncovers a huge secret and needs to share it with someone else, or wants help looking into it.

Option two: Pick a time and a place for them to be and go from there:

What would they be doing at this point in their lives?

Who are some people they might run into?

What are some major events happening in this location, at this time? Maybe you can find a way for this character to be involved, or do something loosely related to it.

Option three: Pick another character or player you are interested in engaging with:

What muses do they have?

Why are you interested in those characters?

How does your character relate to theirs, and does it make sense for them to meet?

Option four: For media based RP, take an existing plot within the game/books/comic/etc.:

How would you modify it to fit your muse(s)?

What other characters would you like to be involved in this with yours? Why?

Option five: Lastly, you could just use a prompt generator!

Find a good plot or prompt generator, or a prompt list and tweak it to fit your character. Follow the above suggestions on time, place, etc. to help retrofit it to your muse.
