                        Soul of Swaziland
One thing that really stood out about Swaziland besides the great natural beauty of the country is the people.Â
The ever optimistic charm and friendliness of the Swazi people can easily be seen in their arts and craft. The colorful and charismatic characters, provocative big bottomed ladies, strong spiritual and mythical ties and humorous catch phrases really portray the essence of the Swazi artists personalities.Â
I met a few of the artists who allowed me to take some photographs of them while they glowed with pride over their work. A truly inspiring experience.
Art,music and dance in Swaziland is widely encouraged and places like ‘House On Fire’ actively promote and display the work of the local people. Please do have a look at their website for more details. We stayed in one of the apartments they have on site which was a truly unique experience.
The Kingdom of Swaziland is a small landlocked country in Southern Africa.It is also one of the last true absolute monarchies and is famous for the annual ‘Reed Dance’ where tens of thousands of unmarried girls come to pay homage to the Queen mother and for the King to select yet another wife. It is one of the most unique and real African cultural experiences I have come across.
Swaziland also offers a huge range of activities and you will never get bored in this small African wonderland.
It is one of the small gems you rarely come across and is well worth seeing if ever in Southern Africa.
