kills me how pan!martyn is such a clearly nonviolent person. when nikos surprises him, he says "I have a weapon, I could have taken your head off!" but he doesn't actually draw said weapon until afterwards, his primary instinct is to jump/run away from the problem. when they meet the ghast, he's the one that suggests "maybe he means us no harm" until he's proven otherwise.

during the voting process, he's very clearly averse to going in the arena. when he hears that both pearl and nikos wants to fight, he automatically proposes that they go in the arena instead and he doesn't have to. he repeatedly protests that he doesn't know how to use his abilities and that he doesn't want to fight anyone. in the arena, he tries to escape before realizing he can't. even on the mountain, he sends out the boar in order to prove to everyone that he is in fact Artemis's champion, not because he truly wants to fight. he doesn't resort to threatening actual violence until it becomes very apparent to him that everyone else wants his blessing. And even then, he reasons with cleo and makes a deal with her instead of attacking her.

he's more akin to a prey animal than a hunter, he always tries escaping before fighting out of sheer desperation. yet to everyone else, he's callous and arrogant and always has a bone to pick. he won't even tell them his name. no wonder they all voted for him, they don't know him at all.

As funny as Apo making Owen have a gender realization is, I also think it's funny that she did the same thing to Pearl later (ie pointing at her, saying "become a man!" and turning her into Abolish) causing known cishet Pearlescentmoon to have to say the words "I don't want to turn into a man!"

Also when she turned Sausage into Cleo she said "I don't see a man nor a woman but I see something different".

Basically Apo is exclusively trying to trans people's genders and I support her in this endeavor.
