Thanks for letting Chloe stay here, Lex.

30 Day TV Challenge - Day 26 - Favorite Non-Canon Ship: Chloe Sullivan & Lex Luthor from Smallville
Chloe and Lex were easily two of the most intelligent characters on Smallville. Their scenes oozed with chemistry whether they were partners or enemies. What seemed like a great partnership coming together in season 3 quickly dissolved into nothing and the beginning of enemies in season 4. While I wanted nothing more than their story to become an intriguing tale of Chloe forced to choose between best friend Clark and possible love interest Lex, sadly that was not to be. (Though it did more or less happen in season 8 when Lex was gone and Davis Bloome became the villain, but I’ve already spoken about how much that annoyed me.) In the end, I eagerly accepted moments in which they argued and held contempt for one another, because at least it meant they were on screen together. I think what I’ll lament most of all is that this storyline from Steven S. DeKnight never happened. Would have made an awesome season 7.
“I think the difficult thing about next year, one of the challenges is that Lex is so much the villain now, is so far gone—especially what’s happened between him and Lana, what he did to Lana—it’s going to be hard to have scenes with Lex. It’s going to be hard to have a Lex and Lana scene, a Lex and Clark scene. As we build to a total adversarial relationship, it becomes exponentially harder to casually put Clark and Lex in the same room together. But when they do, it makes for some truly great moments.”
Solution? A season-long Luthor and Chloe alliance, according to DeKnight.
While Clark Kent’s ambitious gal pal did once forge a secret partnership with the elder Luthor to investigate Clark in exchange for column at the Daily Planet, this time the alliance would be with the younger Luthor—as a body guard of sorts, Smallville’s one-woman version of Lex’s fiercely loyal comic book bodyguards, Mercy and Hope.
The revelation of Chloe’s power in the finale may have complicated such a potential arc, however. For seasons the writers entertained the twist that Chloe is one of the very mutants who had always drawn her interest, but there was still debate about her exact power as recently as the second half of season six.
“My brainstorm was actually to take Chloe and—again at the time we hadn’t decided what her power was—and at the end of this season, her power erupts full force and through LexCorp, through whatever’s going on when she wakes up at the beginning of next season, she doesn’t really remember who she is, who her friends are, and Lex convinces her that he’s her only friend.”
On whether memory loss—arguably a transparent plot device—was the only viable circumstance to render Lex and Chloe’s normally antagonistic relationship ripe for alliance, Deknight said the writers ultimately would want to steer clear of recycling Chloe’s “woman-scorned plotline” of seasons two and three.
“So because of season two and the season three alliance with Lionel Luthor—I’d want it to be a memory thing, to not re-tread betrayal and what happened in season three.“
DeKnight said he loves long-term villains because of the creative flexibility and cohesion imbued in seasons that feature a season-long villain. “Chloe would actually be the villain for the season, Lex’s right arm, and the whole season would revolve around Clark and Lana trying to get her back to normal,” he said.

Anyways, check out some of my favorite Chloe & Lex interactions (which includes almost all of them).
