The Force had been quiet when she first called during those months of training. Be with me. But the Force had not been ready. She had not been ready. Be with me.Ā One final desperate call to the night and finally she understood everything of what and who she was. They had anwsered. The Jedi stood behind her.Ā Every Jedi who ever lived, lives in you. Wise words from a man that was a generation separated but whose legacy remained ever-present in the now. Decades ago, Qui-Gon had sought out the secrets to the living force and the after when one parted from this world. He had been considered worthy of the knowledge and that in order to achieve eternal consciousness required complete selflessness. He had been the first true example and had passed on the knowledge to those after him. There is No Death, There is the Force.
He was done and could let go knowing they survived in one. The Force was in balance. It was easy to slip away and go quietā¦
Falling. That was an entirely new sensation and the very first thing he noticed. Instantly he flailed for purchase, there was nothing to grab onto and then - SPLASH! The harsh reality of being dropped into water. If that hadnāt been a rude awakening. His eyes snapped open and he was underwater, for a moment he was weightless as he sank and it took half a second later to realize his lungs were demanding oxygen. He was drowning and right at that moment, not really the important thing to focus on because fight or flight kicked in. His legs kicked, his arms were going in wide strokes and he began to move. He needed air and he hoped he was swimming the right way up.Ā
It seemed to be getting lighter and suddenly with one final kick, he broke the surface and suddenly rasped in a deep breath as if heād been kicked in the gut. He was still in the current of the water that was threatening to pull him back under. Heād always been a strong and fit swimmer, he fought the current with every kick, every stroke, making his way to the shore. Finally, he pulled himself into shallow water where he could sit and now was about the right time to start wondering what in the Force was going on.
Qui-Gon knew this, seeking his memories, he was dead. Well, he should be. Contrary to his current circumstances at the moment - he was breathing in heavily and his heart was racing, the adrenaline going, from the little swimming exercise. He reached up and ran a hand through his hair. He was soaking wet and as he looked down at himself realized he was in all too familiar garments - the Jedi robes he wore for so long. A leather utility belt was at his waist; he had a couple food capsules and oh, yeah, it was unmistakable what hung on his right hip - his lightsaber.
If that wasnāt enough because Qui-Gon liked a challenge, he saw the rippled reflection in the water he currently sat in and that was the face of a younger him staring back. He reached up to pat his face as if trying to decide if he was real or not. He felt like a breathing human being and he was pretty sure he felt a headache coming on because all of this was - okay, heās not even sure he can answer that. Heād always been the true representative of the living force. Sometimes that had let him to being considered a defiant member of the Jedi. He did was he felt was right. But right now, at this particular moment, that was not helping him.
His connection to the force was always strong and reaching out now he easily felt it surround him, though, it felt different - chaos, he realized. Well, he was sitting there, still in the water, living, and breathing.Ā He needed answers and Qui-Gon wasnāt going to get anywhere he was. He slowly got to his feet and for the first time, he took in his surroundings. He knew this place. Naboo. More specifically, Theed, the capital. He died here. He remembered all of it and yet here he stood.
Realizing in that moment he probably looked like a crazy person, standing there in the water, dripping yet, fully clothed and of course somebody was passing by or had heard the commotion of the awfully loud splash heād created earlier.Ā āI should have an explanation for this, but I donāt,ā he said matter of factly not really focusing on the who for the moment.Ā āPerhaps point in the right direction-ā he cut himself off because the right direction to what?Ā āBetter yet, have you noticed anything odd around here?ā Heād always been one for mingling with the locals and finding out what they knew.Ā āBesides me.ā He added on.
