after hours - Hikari & Summer
"Well, I do have a habit of attracting trouble so maybe I do need some help." Â In reality Summer just didnât want to walk back through the castle alone. Â As much as she loved ghosts, Hogwarts was next level creepy at night. Â She wasnât sure how prefects managed to stalk the halls without getting even a small case of the heebie jeebies. Â âYou donât have to follow me the whole way.â
Just passed the freaky doors to the library. Â âWell then, better hurry so that you can get back to passing out detentions.â Â Summer began marching down the corridor and gestured for Hikari to follow her. Â They walked in silence for several minutes before Summer decided to strike up a conversation.
"So tell me, is it any fun being a prefect?" Â Summer was under the impression that the only requirement to become a prefect was having a huge stick up your butt. Â She was going to make an exception for Hikari since she let her off the hook. Â Lord knows Summerâs dad would lose it if she got a detention for something as silly as chasing lost books at night.
Hikari nodded. "It's probably better that way." It had been mostly quiet all night, so she didn't have to worry about neglecting her duties. Besides, there were several other prefects patrolling the halls. She nearly snorted at Summer's other comment, instead settling for an amused smile.
She was content to walk in silence, only feeling the slightest bit awkward about the lack of conversation. Instead, her mind raced with thoughts of homework, trying to work out what she could accomplish when she returned to the common room. It was only when Summer asked her a question that she snapped back to attention.
"Hm? Oh. I suppose so." She hadn't really ever though of it as fun, but it had never been a burden either. It was something she had always wanted. If anything, it felt more like her duty and reward for being such a diligent student. "I like the responsibility. ... You're on the Gryffindor quidditch team, right?"Â
