"i forgive myself for what i did" and "i should not have done that" are two statements that can and should coexist. you can forgive yourself while holding yourself accountable. you can understand that you fucked up while also understanding that you're human.
i love people with beautiful hearts.
Thank you letter:
Thank you dad. Thank you for teaching me to be independent. Thank you for teaching me to speak my own voice even if I sometimes lose it. Thank you for teaching me that people can change. Thank you for teaching me to fight like hell and never give up. I’m fighting my hardest. And I’m proud of who you’ve become and who you are becoming.
Thank you mom. Thank you for teaching me about forgiveness. Thank you for teaching me about the luxuries in life. Thank you for teaching me about what a healthy family can look like. Thank you for teaching me what a brave face looks like. I’m using that skill a lot right now.
Thank you NW. Thank you for being the most amazing friend. Thank you for the countless hours of conversation. Thank you for the unconditional support. Thank you for loving me and teaching me how to, for the first time in my life, just know with all your heart that your friend will be there no matter what. You are my true soul mate. I love you forever and ever.
Thank you RG/RP. Thank you for coming into my life and changing me and the way I look at the world completely. Thank you for teaching me to grow and be an individual rather than a copy of my dad. Thank you for introducing me to love and making my dream of having a real sister come true. I’m so proud of you and I’m always cheering you on.
Thank you CRH. Thank you for teaching me about myself. Thank you for learning with me. Thank you for being my safe place. Thank you for showing me what true love is and also what true heart break is. Thank you for loving me unconditionally. You made me who I am today and a piece of my heart is forever yours.
Thank you SCM. Thank you for showing me that I could love again. Thank you for helping me back on my feet. Thank you for welcoming me in as I was without any expectations. I cherished my time with you and I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished.
Thank you JMM. Thank you for showing me that not everything has to be so serious. Thank you for forcing me to grow up. Thank you for making me understand my own worth. Thank you for teaching me it’s okay to take breaks to recharge. Thank you for some of the best sex of my life. Thank you for teaching me how to put myself back together without anyone’s help. I don’t know how I’d be handling life right now had I not learned this skill.
Thank you JF. Thank you for helping me understand my own brain. Thank you for countless hours of advice and laughter. Thank you for helping me through so much professionally and personally. Thank you for always covering for me. Thank you for always telling me the truth no matter how brutal. Thank you for understanding me so well. Thank you for caring so much. I owe my “sanity” to you right now.
Thank you HMP. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for letting me take care of you. Thank you for the distractions and the laughter. Thank you for introducing me to a shit ton of movies and shows. Thank you for letting me into your heart and mind. I promise you I’m not going down without a much bigger fight.
Thank you doc. Thank you for making me write this. I thought it was nuts at first especially with specific people who I may not necessarily fully forgive, but you were right- looking past the bad and thanking them for the positive is a much more useful use of my emotions. So thanks doc you were right, I needed this.
I have been determined to stay as positive as I can with all of this because I can’t get through the day otherwise. However, I’m going to take this few minutes to just sit in the absolute bullshit that is my life right now. FUCK. CANCER. I was BARELY getting through day by day and then I started my anti depressants again and 3 days after they started to work, bam. Cancer. So my brain is unbelievably fucked up to the core because I didn’t even have time to process everything. To grieve. To grow. To learn lessons. To unlearn trauma and habits. To figure out who I am. To do any of that. I was sad, I was okay, then I was sad again, then cancer. Now I have people calling me 20 times a day to check on me and I realize that is a true privilege and I am so happy to have amazing people in my life who seem to understand the… complexity of all that I’m feeling but it’s exhausting. I finally, for the first time in my life, got to go to IKEA yesterday and we are laughing out asses off I’m the store and I managed to say “when I get married” and almost finish the sentence before catching myself. For just a moment, I forgot. That was incredible. But that was the first time since I heard the words out of the doctors mouth that, even for a second, I forgot I was dying. Last week I entered a last ditch effort trial that brings my odds up from maybe making it a few years max to a 15% chance of shrinking it enough that I can have it surgically removed.
The most significant feeling I’m experiencing is something I can’t quite describe in one word- it’s this horrible guilt and sadness for my friends and family that are going through this with me and knowing they will have to grieve my loss. I went through my few days of isolating and pushing them away but they just came knocking at my door (and have keys so they just came right in) and just sat down next to me on the couch and watched tv with me. I love my friends. It took me until 2 months ago to be able to feel mildly like myself around them but having all of them in a group together completing my bucket list? A dream come true.
The main thing I’ve learned though is that the people who care, will step up and there’s nothing you can do to keep them away.
Okay this started as a crying rant because I was sad about mortality again but now, I’m just so grateful again. I have two parents who are at least willing to be cordial and are doing everything they can for me, and a group of half a dozen people who I trust with my life and are the most fun people in the world to go on adventures with or just sit around watching movies. I may be unlucky with health (my doctors audibly gasped when they were going to print out all my records and realized how many pages there were) but what’s important is that I am so lucky with having an amazing support system who would definitely all be willing to clean my stomach port if needed.
I feel better now. It helps that the past two days were two of the best days of my life. My outburst was probably due to over excursion and over stimulation but I’m okay now

2 years is not a lot of time but I’m going to fight to make every day worth it. I have some really hard days and am in a lot of pain a lot of the time (and always need to have access to the bathroom unfortunately) but I have great doctors who are kind and don’t talk down to me, incredible friends who are helping me complete everything possible on my bucket list, and a wonderful support system that is always there for me. Anyone with negativity towards me at this point with everything going on can take their selfishness and narcissism and fuck right off 😊
that dude was probably pissed when he drove his chevy all the way to the levy and it was dry 😑
oh, the music is coming from him
I think the worst possible outcome of tumblr getting popular again would be twitter types registering complaints about being told to get devoured by swarms of ravenous bees over their lame opinions, and staff feeling an obligation to ban threats of violence or whatever.

Sandra Oh behind the scenes of Turning Red (2022) dir. Domee Shi
I love Sandra Oh. I’ve loved her for such a long time. I love how every role that she took on broke barriers and stereotypes. She was at the top of our list. We needed an actress who had the range to be all of the things that Ming is in the movie: sharp and intimidating, but also loving at the same time. Ming is such a complex, rounded character, and Sandra was the only actress we could think of who could bring that. It could so easily go into the one-dimensional tiger-mom territory, but the way Sandra portrays her, there’s so much warmth and love underneath the craziness, that it just had to be her. Also, she’s Canadian, which is awesome. [x]
“wouldn’t you rather earn something than have it just handed to you?”
Yeah when it comes to actual awards and fancy goods, but when it comes to basic needs, basic human decency, and accomodations, those things should always be handed to people. No one should have to “earn” those things.Value people as people, not base it on how much they produce.
yeah but that creates a severe dependency that could be exploited easily, and creates a slippery slope @musical-clarity
Actually studies show that people who live in places with universal income (who are given money with no strings attached just for being citizens) do far better work than those who don’t and are more enthusiastic to do work.
This is because they still want nice things and will work for those but the part of their energy that was devoted to worrying about if they have enough money to pay the rent and bills this month is now freed up to do other things.
Some people will always be lazy and take advantage of the system, but they are always a tiny percentage and it seems ridiculous to me to punish the majority and severly hamstring their abilities just because a handful of people will simply live of basic income rather than work.
It’s been tested a couple times. In Canada, in some European countries, and the results are always the same. There are two groups of people who show a statistically significant (Greater than one half of one percent, or 1 in 200) increase in Not Working and living off the guaranteed income. Parents of Children under school age, and full time students. Among ALL other groups, employment actually INCREASED. Why? Because guaranteed minimum income means that homeless people can get at least a basic low end apartment. It’s hard if not impossible to get an above board job without a permanent fixed address. Also more people were able to have and maintain a BANK ACCOUNT. It is often hard to get a decent job without an account that can accept Direct Deposit for paychecks. Also, lost work time due to illness and injury decreased across the board. It turns out if people are getting a decent amount of money each month they can A> afford to eat better, and B> obtain decent medical attention both preventative and emergency. Crazy right? So why hasn’t it caught on? Because it doesn’t directly benefit the people in power, and it increases THEIR PERSONAL taxes, their CORPORATE TAXES, and thus decreases their PERSONAL INCOME. So, because Jeff Bezos and Alan Greenspan might fall from making 100 billion dollars a year to making 99.8 billion dollars a year, it’s a hard NO and we can all fucking die.. The End.
tl;dr
TL;DR : people work better when they are living
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs applies to society as a whole,,, you need basic necessities and security in order to do your best
Capitalist bootlickers are always like “that might create a slippery slope of dependency where people could be exploited, so we should stay on our slippery slope of starvation and homelessness where people definitely are being exploited.”
what if God actually did exist. that’d be hilarious
