Done for a "monologue" flash prompt on discord. Hollow Ground is on the receiving end of an angry monologue from Tegan Retribution. Post canon, having agreed to work together. HG's pov, 907 words.
The door to my office opens with a bang, slamming against the wall as Retribution storms through it. I can't help the flinch — and the flare of annoyance, that veneer is mahogany — but just because he's lost his temper doesn't mean I need to lose mine. At least he's out of the armor, he wants a talk, not fight. Jake stands in front of me protectively anyway.
"To what do I owe the pleas-"
"I told you Charge was off limits!" Retribution growls, stepping up as close as Jake will allow. He might as well not even be in the room for how much attention Retribution pays him.
"Relax, he's fine." I put on my most sympathetic smile. Retribution is overreacting.
"You had him shot!" He yells loud enough that his voice cracks. There's an unsettling fury in those familiar gray eyes that I don't like.
"And I told you to keep him out of the way. Besides, he'll live." I keep my voice calm and businesslike. "Honestly you should be thanking me, he's been far too much of a distrac-"
Blinding white- hot pain bursts against my jaw and the world shifts sideways. Am I falling? A rough hand grabs the lapel of my suit jacket and keeps me from tumbling onto the floor. I blink a few times to reorient myself from the shock.
But its not Retribution who hit me.
"Jake, what the hell…" My lips feel numb and its not just the pain.
"I didn't-" The look in Jake's eyes is panicked, mirroring my own. "I didn't do this." Jake's fist is still raised, trembling slightly. His eyes flicker to Retribution, still as a statue.
Jake pulls his fist back further and I scramble for the one holding my jacket, seeking skin contact, pressing my fingers into his hand.
"Jake you don't need to hit me again, you don't want-"
His fist collides with my nose with a sickening crack. This time I fall, dizzy with pain, the concrete floor stinging my palms. The coppery, wet tang of blood, my blood, brings me back to agonizing clarity.
I look up at Jake, ashen faced, eyes wide with fear but still rooted to the spot — a marionette strung up by invisible strings.
Retribution walks towards me, slowly and I scramble backwards, fuck dignity. There is a gun in my desk, maybe I could…no the thought is absurd, I'd never make it in time.
"We have a truce!" Let him remember our deal, appeal to reason, good business if nothing else. Maybe I can stall him long enough for Jake to break free of whatever hold Retribution has on him.
"No, what we have is a failure of understanding." Retribution crouches down in front of me, eye level, obliterating his rare height advantage. His voice is low and cold, in control, in stark contrast from his outburst just moments ago. " We had a truce because I needed your money and your resources and for a time I thought that meant I needed you. But I don't."
"You're so sure?" I'm proud of how steady my voice is.
"Yes. You've grown lazy, complacent. You thought yourself so far above me that the one condition I put on our agreement was negligible. But what you failed to understand is that with my powers there is no one in this entire fucking city I cannot touch." A smile tugs at Retribution's lips that makes my stomach plummet. "Just take your little boy toy over here." He gestures at Jake but his eyes never leave mine. "Does he know you need physical touch to manipulate him? Because I don't have that…limitation."
"Oh fuck you!" Jake spits. His entire body trembles, trying to move, trying to shift.
"Be quiet and sit down." Retribution says calmly and to my horror Jake obeys. The command wasn't for a chair so we're all on the floor now, if someone were to walk in on us I swear I'd burst out laughing even though I'm half afraid I might die today.
"So what do you want?" I pinch my nose and tilt my head backwards. Its agonizing but there's no point left in fighting it, Retribution holds all the cards now. All that's left is the payout.
"On the surface, nothing has to change." Retribution stands, straitening his suit as he does so. "But if you ever go back on a deal or come after me and mine again…I will burn you so thoroughly your name won't even be a memory."
I can hear someones laugh and it takes me a moment to recognize its my own. Maybe its the pain, maybe its the first time in a long time I've felt…I don't even know how I feel. Scared? Humiliated? Angry? Relieved?
"As far as threats go, that's a good one. But you're an idiot." I know its not wise but I don't have to take this laying down, even if I am technically still on the floor. I don't have to wait for fate or his weathervane mood, I can cut the deal here and now. "You should just kill me while you have the chance."
Retribution hesitates, hand on the door handle. Is he considering it? It's the smart play, we both know it. instead he only shrugs.
"It'd be a shame to make Noe cry, I actually like her." Retribution closes the door with a soft click.

(it’s that time of the month 🩸/slight dysphoria) Yeah listen guys, the seasonal depression is hitting hard. But this’ll try to be for everyone pre t or not, but in this story u don’t have bottom surgery. Yk I feel like that’s obvious, congrats if u do got tho! But menstrual cycles are the topic.
You had been really busy on missions today, barely time to rest as much. Normally the extra work is not a problem, since Robert would half the time send you off to non emergencies.
But today, most of the emergencies consisted of fighting villains. Again. Not a problem. But for you, it was a huge inconvenience. You had your period. All day the cramps were consistent, off and on due to running across everywhere at once.
You were paired up with Flambae and got sent out together to take down this really big villian that was spot wrecking things across the town. Everyone else was too busy to take the mission with you, so you got stuck with him.
You usually kept to yourself away from Flambae, out of most of the guys on team Z. Reasoning? Well all the other male dispatch members were cisgendered. You weren’t. It was hard to figure out if you could trust the team, despite realizing everyone was mostly nice and didn’t care.
Reason you didn’t tell certain members before, is just because you weren’t sure what reactions to expect yet. But Chad, you definitely hadn’t been planning to tell him.
He was just really obnoxiously self-centered, and had a lot more pride than you. But in a lot of ways you found traits of him that were likeable, to you at least from observation. But you never thought he would like you as a person.
A few times he would say something to you that sounded like he was trying to be nice, but other times it felt like more of a backhanded compliment, or maybe he thought you would be another person to bully easily. You brushed him off half the time though.
Maybe he knew, that you weren’t a boy. Or just didn’t see you as one, and wanted to take advantage of making you feel crap about it. In the back of your head, you could admit to yourself he was attractive. But Chad was gay. You were a guy, but you knew you wouldn’t ever be one to him. Not one enough for him to like you either, or tolerate you.
You were doing fine while fighting, until you could feel just below your stomach throbbing repetitively. Flambae was shooting fire at the villian until he got swatted away like a bug.
This villian was a some big inhuman made of metal. So it was fire resistant, and it charged straight at you. You dodged, still having adrenaline enough to ignore the stomach pain.
You jumped, throwing yourself at him about to strike him in the back. Until he spun around, punching you right in where it hurt.
You went flying across the air, bouncing off someone’s car and crashing into the road, breaking it. You didn’t have a scratch at all on you. But the cramps in your stomach intensified. The running, the fighting, and getting punched in the stomach made it impossible for you to focus on anything else but the pain.
You pulled yourself up and took off while you were holding your stomach with the other hand. “Fuck- that. That was it. I’m done Robert! I quit for today. I’m sorry” You spoke out loud as you left the scene.
Flambae was now fighting the villain that punched you. But when he heard you over the dispatch, ultimately giving up and ditching him in the process.
You brought yourself back immediately to the SDN. You were hunched over and stumbled through the office, your arm was fully holding your stomach.
“Y/N, you okay? What happened to you out there?” Robert was still on his computer and glanced from his screen to you. Normally you wouldn’t quit over something so small or look like you were injured easily.
“I really don’t feel good. I’m sorry. I’ll stay in the building if I feel better again to go back out, but it’s too much for me right now, man. I’m sorry. Just let me lay down in the break room for a few.”
You looked over at him in hopes he could understand and not ask any more. Which Robert nodded in response. “Just take the day off if you need. That was all my fault. Flambae also pulled out just now too, but we got it covered.”
You changed out of your hero suit, into a t shirt and sweatpants. Once you were at the break room, you went over to the booth chair at the back of the room. Wincing as you bent and laid down, and curling your legs to your aching stomach.
“Just let it pass.” You kept saying in your head, rubbing below your stomach to try and soothe yourself. But every time you felt the pain become nearly invisible, you felt the stong jab in your stomach. And then everything would ache again.
It only felt like it got worse as the minutes passed. The pain was so unbearable this time than most. The aching sensation spread from your lower stomach, to your lower back, and thighs.
It made everything hurt more than just the soreness from moving across the city. You kept eyes shut tightly, trying to get over the pain and maybe sleep it off.
Your eyes welled up as every muscle you moved, sent shockwaves of pain into your body. You hated it, wishing something would make it stop. Somebody if they physically had the power to do so.
“So you left me to go nap? Pretty fuckin’ dramatic. Get the fuck up.” Your eyes snapped open again to see Flambae walking towards you glaring. “The fuck is wrong with you?! Acting like you can’t take a-...punch.”
He stood right in front of you, where you laid at the edge of the seat. Looking down at you, with one eyebrow raised. He always looks angry to you, so you couldn’t tell if he was still pissed off, or confused now. “…-You cryin’ man?”
Staring back up at him, you had heavy tears rolling down your cheeks. So you couldn’t lie about that. You tried to answer, but you hissed instead. Feeling a long sharp pain stabbing you. You hugged your stomach again hard with both arms.
“It won’t- stop. Just go away please!” You raised your voice and rolled onto your other side, facing away from Chad. But then you heard him scoff. “Okay. Stop being a faker. I seen you take harder punches.”
Faker? Seriously?! While you were in pain.
“NO! I have cramps, and I can’t help it! They keep coming and going, so leave me the fuck alone!” You shouted, with your head buried into the seat cushion.
You choked back a sob, and groaned out loudly as you clutched your stomach. “I don’t want to feel like this! It’s all the time every fucking month!” You shut your eyes tightly again. “I tried! I tried to come in and ignore it but nothing I took is helping!”
The throbbing continued below your stomach like it had its own heartbeat. All the sudden, you felt your own hand being pulled away from your stomach. Only to be replaced with a hand that wasn’t yours. You looked down with tears blurring your eyes, seeing Chad’s left hand.
He had his hand laid out flat on your stomach, before slipping it into your pants. You jolted in confusion and quickly turned your body to sit up, only to get pushed to lay back down.
“They say if men had periods, they would be whining and bitching nonstop. God. They were right.” He smiled while holding you down with his right hand weighing down on your shoulder, despite only having 3 fingers on that one.
The throbbing vanished when Chad put firm pressure onto your lower stomach with his left hand, as you looked back up to face him with realization.
It was kind of awkward, because he had his hand down your pants. He wasn’t moving any lower or touching you weirdly, but at this point it was so obvious you didn’t have a dick. But he still made sure that his hand wasn’t hot enough to burn you, or set your clothes on fire.
You could feel the heat radiate onto your lower half, on the spot that ached and soothed your pain. He actually was trying to help you feel better, by using heat compression from his own powers. Your gaze softened from relief, realizing that it didn’t matter. In his eyes you really were just like other men to him.
Flambae loomed over your body, staring at where his hand was. Until he looked back at you and leaned in closer to your face. “Are you gonna stop crying for me now, tough guy?”
You immediately nodded, but you couldn’t stop yourself from sniffling and trying to blink the tears away. He smiled watching you try to stop yourself before he leaned in, lightly pecking you on the lips.
And then it actually hit. You were more than just ‘other men’ to him. Chad actually did like you. That’s what made you different compared. It had nothing to do with how you were born. He saw you, and he liked you.
The rest of the day you ended up clinging hard onto Flambae, as he was now your human heating pad. He would cuddle and wrap his arms around your stomach as it’s cramping.
You forced him to carry you around with your legs wrapped around him too. You betted on that he couldn’t lift you, just to make him do it. His whole body just felt like a warm blanket, that you couldn’t resist it now.
Lol why did I pick this GIF for the thumbnail for the story bro

CHAPTER ONE
It had rained the night before, and the sidewalks still shimmered with thin puddles that reflected the colourless sky. You walked with your hands in pockets, head bowed.
Another rejection email this morning. Another unpaid bill. Another voicemail from your mother, heavy with disappointment even in its silence. You hadn’t answered. What was the point? The world had grown dull around the edges—everything grey, everything pointless. You were only out for a walk because you couldn't stand the inside of your apartment anymore.
That’s when you saw it.
A crooked, weather-worn table stood at the end of a cracked driveway, soaked cardboard signs taped to its legs: FREE STUFF in uneven marker. The yard sale was clearly long abandoned. Most of what remained was garbage…a chipped coffee mug, broken costume jewellery, yellowed paperback novels with curling covers. But something tugged at you as you trudged ahead.
Wedged beneath a stack of waterlogged magazines was a book. It sat right in the centre, dry despite the damp area, like the rain had avoided it on purpose. Black as soot, no title on the spine or author. Just an inverted pentagram etched into the front in faded gold.
You opened the cover. The pages were handwritten in fluid, elegant, crimson ink, almost... alive. You looked around. No one was watching. No one would miss it.
It started small.
You read the first chapter that night, sitting on your bed with the book propped in your lap. The words didn’t ask you to repent.
They didn’t tell you were broken. They didn’t demand blind obedience, or sacrifice, or guilt. Instead, they looked you dead in the eye and said: You are not evil for wanting. It taught you to believe in yourself, and all the flaws that made you human. To worship yourself first.
By the end of the week, you’d underlined passages, scribbled thoughts in the margins, whispered some of the manifestation rituals and lines.
And slowly, so subtly you didn’t notice at first, things began to change.
You started saying no . To your mother’s guilt-laced messages. To your boss’s passive-aggressive overtime requests. To the voice in your head that told you were worthless if you weren't constantly bleeding for others.
Your laughter came back—sharp, unapologetic. Dared to look happy without apologizing for it.
Death was a whisper. But when you opened your eyes again…
The sky was red, like an endless sunset bled out. Neon lights flickered with glitchy menace, towering buildings leaned at impossible angles, and demonic figures strolled by as casually as humans in a shopping mall. Somewhere distant, a scream turned into laughter. Gunfire sounded like music.
Hell. You had made it . No chains dragged you down or demons who wanted to throw you in flames. For the first time, you were home.
You didn’t become an Overlord through brute strength alone. That was never your style.
You watched first. Studied the other overlords around you. How they schemed, how they fought, how they fell. You played the long game. Befriended sinners, made them feel safe. Gained their trust, learned their secrets. You brokered deals between rival factions, only to sabotage both and seize the aftermath for yourself.
You didn’t need to shout to be feared. You let others speak for you. Let paranoia do your work. By the time you claimed your territory, you hadn’t just proven yourself ruthless. You’d proven yourself untouchable .

Your assistant, an imp in a pressed black suit, rattled off tasks at a speed that made your temples throb. "—and the blood-trade deal with the Sloth Ring still needs your seal. Oh! And the emissary from Sector 7 is furious that you flayed his envoy last week—"
"He interrupted me, " you said dryly.
"—still, they’re demanding reparations." She continued onwards, scrolling through her tablet.“And your new tax policies have incited a small rebellion in the Lower Slums. Very passionate. Pitchforks. Fire. The works.”
“How quaint,” you murmured. “Tell them I’m touched, and send a response.”
“A… response?”
“Impale him. Let’s see him respawn after that.”
The imp shrugged and typed rapidly. You leaned your cheek against your knuckles, expression unreadable. This was the part of ruling you loathed—dealing with the stupidity of lesser sinners.
Before your assistant could launch into another rant about soul quotas, your door slammed open with a thunderous crack. A sinner stumbled in, panting, eyes wild. Your assistant beside you snarled, wings flaring. “How dare you barge in unannounced!”
You recognized the sinner, one of the spies you had in every district.
“Speak,” you commanded, your voice low but impossible to disobey.
“We found him, ma’am. Lucifer Morningstar,” she said. “He’s chosen to remain at the Hotel for the time being. To assist his daughter. Which complicates things.”
Your mind fixated on it instantly. Your pulse spiked, but you kept your face neutral. Lucifer. The Morning Star. The First Rebel. The one whose name you had whispered in every prayer when the world above had turned its back on you. When you were alone. You had whispered his name not in reverence, but in solidarity. You both were seen as social outcasts, always kept at the side-lines. You wanted to know…did he feel the same rage as you? Was their grief identical?
You had never seen him, not once since you arrived. So you had wanted—selfishly and hopelessly—to meet him. You had almost given up, and you had come to theorize that maybe Hell was a living entity and it was protecting its king.
Was he still a dreamer? Still infuriatingly brilliant, and beautiful in the way only fallen things could be?
Now you had a way in. A reason to be in his orbit. You smiled, and felt alive more than ever. "Clear my schedule; I have a visit to make."

The Hazbin Hotel exterior was a tall, elaborate amalgamation of arched windows and turrets. It was the princess herself who opened the door. “Hi there!” Charlie chirped, turning with a wide, happy grin. “Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel! Are you here for… redemption?” she offered, hopeful.
That word always came with a foul taste. You arched a brow, amused. “Redemption? No, darling. I didn’t come here to seek salvation. I don’t beg for anything from heaven. Hell is my home.”
Charlie blinked. “Oh! Sorry—I just thought, since our guests—”
You waved dismissively. “I’m here as a patron.”
Charlie’s mouth opened, closed, then opened again. “A... patron?”
“Yes, yes. Your hotel is….utterly fascinating.” You walked ahead. “You’ve made quite the splash, and well, I love where the action is. And I wouldn’t mind killing exorcist filth myself.”
Charlie regained her composure as best she could, straightening her jacket and stepping ahead with you. “Well, I—um—thank you! I mean, wow! If you don’t mind me asking–”
“Charlie,” Vaggie said sharply, her voice low but insistent. “Can I talk to you? Now.”
Charlie looked over, startled. “Can it wait a second?”
“No,” Vaggie said, her gaze flicking towards you. “It really can’t.”
Charlie gave you an apologetic glance. “Excuse me—just a moment.”
You only gave a graceful nod. Charlie followed Vaggie a few feet away toward the stairs. Not out of earshot, but just far enough to pretend it was private.
“What is it?” Charlie whispered.
“That’s her ,” Vaggie said, her voice tight. “You know who that is, right?”
Charlie blinked. “I mean… no?”
“That’s the Overlord who took over that chaotic district without a single army and made it her own, a feat no one has ever achieved. She’s manipulative, calculated, and terrifyingly efficient. No one knows how she got to where she is so fast. Some say she made a deal with something worse. Others say she is that something.”
“But she wants to be a patron,” she whispered. “Isn’t that good? ”
“No, Charlie,” Vaggie cut in. “It means she wants something. She doesn’t set foot anywhere unless there’s leverage to gain.”
Charlie chewed her lip, clearly torn. “She hasn’t done anything wrong…”
“Yet,” Vaggie snapped. “You want my advice? Send her away. Nicely. Now. Before she decides to get interested. Because once she’s interested, she stays. ”
Charlie looked back again. Your eyes met Charlie’s across the room and you smiled, not cruelly, just knowingly. But still, she said, “No. We don’t turn people away, Vaggie. If she wants to be here, we let her. That’s the point.”
Charlie turned and walked back towards you, heart pounding. She wasn’t naïve but still… she believed. When Charlie finally returned, still smiling, if a little stiff around the edges.
“Would it be too forward to ask for a tour?” you asked.
Charlie perked up immediately. “Oh! Sure! That’d be wonderful. I’d love to show you what we’re building here.”
You offered a gracious nod. “Lead the way, then.”
“Well, well!” came a voice as the shadows manifested. “Isn’t this a surprise!”
Charlie froze mid-step. A familiar radio-static chuckle fizzled through the air as Alastor stepped into view, smile stretched wide. You turned with the same calm grace, expression unreadable, save for the faintest curve of interest on your lips. “Ah, the famous Radio Demon. I was wondering where you’d crawl out after seven years.”
Alastor’s grin twitched, just slightly.
Charlie laughed nervously. “You two know each other?”
“In a manner of speaking,” Alastor said smoothly. “We’ve danced around each other a time or two. Power attracts power, after all. Though some of us do prefer to announce ourselves.”
You gave a soft, amused smile. “And some of us don’t need to.”
Charlie looked between them, increasingly unsure if this was a joke or something far more dangerous.
“I must say,” Alastor continued, tone still light, “it’s charming that you’ve taken an interest in our humble little rehabilitation effort. Not quite your usual flavor, though. Redemption always struck me as far too... tender for your palate.”
“I have varied tastes,” you replied. “And a fondness for lost causes.” Your smile was saccharine sweet. “Anyhow, Charlie needs more people to have her back after the last extermination attempt. And after your display of ‘battle’ with Adam, let's just say…that wouldn’t be me.”
Charlie felt the air grow a little colder. Not freezing but sharp, like the moment before a storm breaks. She quickly stepped between them, smiling tightly. “Okay! So, I see you two are… acquainted. That’s great. Really great. But, uh, we were just about to start the tour, so—”
“I wouldn’t dream of interrupting,” Alastor said, bowing low with a mock flourish. “Please. Show our mysterious benefactor around.”
His smile sharpened as he straightened. He vanished into the hall, a trail of static humming in his wake. You turned to Charlie, expression once again composed. “I’m beginning to like this place already.”

The muffled sound of their conversation faded as they moved deeper into the hotel. Back in the lobby, silence lingered for a beat longer than it should have. “Okay, what the hell just happened?” Angel Dust muttered, eyes still fixed on the empty hallway. “Did I just watch two Overlords flirt or declare war?”
Niffty popped her head up from behind a nearby couch she had been scrubbing furiously just moments earlier. “I don’t think that was flirting,” she said, blinking. “The pretty lady looked ready to slit Alastor’s throat.”
Husk, who had been quietly nursing something strong in a stained glass, glanced up with a grunt. “She’s trouble. Big kind.”
Angel leaned forward, expression sharpening. “So what’s the play? She’s classy, scary, the whole femme fatale thing. But what’s she doing here? Nobody drops here for charity.”
“She said she was a patron,” Niffty raised her hand as if answering a teacher.
“Right,” Angel said, eyes narrowing. “Because Overlords are always just feeling generous. I give it three days before something explodes.”
“Three?” Husk scoffed. “You’re generous.”
“I try.”
*
Charlie was still speaking. You nodded absently, gaze roving past half-cleaned windows and dusty corners. Then Charlie’s face lit up, brighter than you'd seen. “Dad!”
The word rang out like a bell. Your heartbeat spiked. Finally.
Lucifer.
Your mind spiralled inward like a lock turning with a perfect key. This was why you’d come. You had imagined this more times than you could count. But what you got was—
“Mmnhhgh…”
Lucifer shuffled out of a side hallway, yawning like he was just roused from a hangover. His hair was tousled in wild blond tufts, sticking up in odd angles like he’d fought a pillow and lost. He wore a duck-print loose shirt with matching pyjama pants. In one hand was a coffee mug that read, Duck Daddy .
He blinked blearily at Charlie. “Did someone say breakfast?” he mumbled.
Lucifer raised the mug to his lips and took a long, grating sip.
You stood still, frozen with a poise born of sheer will. Internally, something in you reeled. Your anticipation twisted like a knife. This was him ?
Charlie gestured between them eagerly. “Dad, this is _________, And she wants to help the hotel!”
This... this was it?
He hadn’t even looked at you properly. You’d heard rumours, of course. That it was Lucifer who allowed the extermination of sinners, but you’d chosen to find an excuse for it, that maybe he was pressured or something more was at play. But now that you’d seen him, you knew it in your bones that he didn’t care.
And you hated him for it.
You’d imagined yourself by his side. Your divine purpose. But he was just a man. It wasn’t that you had expected perfection , no. But this disinterest, this casual disregard, made you feel as though staring at a faded replica.
“Forgive me,” you said quietly. “Would you mind if I stepped out? I just need a moment. Alone.”
Charlie blinked. “Oh—of course! Um, do you want someone to—?”
“No. Thank you.” You tried not to run away.
*
“Did I say something?” Lucifer asked, scratching his head.
Charlie frowned. “No… it wasn’t that. She looked… upset. Disappointed.”
Lucifer’s brow furrowed. He hadn’t even introduced himself properly. Just… waddled in like a fool.
He let out a long breath through his nose and rubbed a hand over his face. Here he was again. Upsetting Charlie’s first patron. Making a bad impression. Failing, once more, to be the Lucifer Morningstar that anyone expected.
He had promised himself that he would help Charlie now that he was staying with her. But it was easier said than done. He couldn’t find the motivation to wake up from the bed, or create anything new and though he wanted to help his daughter, the idea of redeeming sinners was still absurd to him…
You had looked at him . Seen him and left. He let out a slow, humourless breath. Why did it sting? He hadn’t even said anything. His mind spiralled inward, dark and familiar. The voice was always waiting there. They always leave, eventually.
He hadn’t even wanted to come down this morning. But Charlie had asked. Come down, Dad. Say hello. Try.
He was always trying, wasn’t he? Trying to believe in her dream. Trying to support her. Trying to pretend he still had the spark she thought was buried.
But in truth? He believed in his daughter, of course. But these sinners ? He had fought and pleaded for them. For their right to choose. To create. To love freely whoever they chose.
And they spat in that freedom. They killed and lied and committed unspeakable acts. Turned free will into rot. He was stuck in a cage of his own making, watching them ruin everything all over again.

He literally hugs you from behind during broadcasts and whispers into your mic:
“Let Hell see we’re the apex predators. Together.”
Obsessed doesn’t cover it. He’s delusional-proud. He thinks you and him are Hell’s royal power couple.
And honestly? You kinda are.
🎙️ ALASTOR📻
Alastor’s smile goes dead still—radio static ringing behind him like a glitching memory.
He speaks slowly: “My dear… you?”
His voice lowers into a dangerous velvet confusion: “You—of all souls—an Overlord equal to the beasts I hunt?”
He genuinely cannot compute it. It doesn’t match anything about you.
“You’re gentle. And hopelessly softhearted. And you laugh easily. And you feed stray demons. And you forgive everything…”
His head tilts, voice barely audible: “…so why are you one of them?”
He stares like trying to read secrets written under your skin.
Then his smile returns—too sharp. Too possessive.
“You should have told me.”
Not angry. Not loud. But wounded, possessive, hungry for truth.
“No more lies,” he murmurs, touching your cheek with gloved fingers. “You belong to me, and I cannot protect what I do not fully know.”
There it is—the yandere edge.
He steps closer, voice honey-sweet with ownership: “You are mine, mon chéri. Every secret. Every power. Every ruthless part of you… I’ll love even those.”
His smile drops one more octave: “And if Hell fears you… wonderful. It means they’ll never dare take you from me.”
He kisses your knuckles like claiming territory.
👑 LUCIFER🐥:
Lucifer hears the reveal through a dozen screaming demon tabloids and televised reactions all at once—news choppers outside, sirens, gossip websites crashing.
He’s in his office doing paperwork and suddenly—slam—every screen broadcasts your overlord form unmasked.
He freezes.
Then sets his pen down very slowly.
“…oh.”
Not angry.
Not horrified.
Just stunned.
He leans back in his throne chair, staring at the footage, eyes widening in growing realization:
“…oh my stars… she’s magnificent.”
There’s fear in his chest—not fear OF you—but fear FOR you.
The knowledge that you survived Hell alone, climbed higher than anyone predicted, became something colossal without help.
He whispers to himself:
“What have you endured, my love…?”
When you return home Lucifer stands at his balcony, hair swaying in the wind dramatically (of course), heart pounding.
“You could’ve told me,” he murmurs, voice tremoring just slightly. “I’m ancient—I’ve seen terrors—but you… you frighten me in a way I don’t hate.”
Yes, Lucifer Morningstar is intimidated.
Yes, he loves that about you.
He steps closer, tracing your arm with gentle fingertips:
“I’ve always attracted powerful women… but you? You are a force Hell itself bows to.”
You start to apologize and he hushes you with a soft touch to your cheek:
“No, no apologies. Only… no more hiding. I want every part of you. Even the parts that terrify the universe.”
His tone drops—
warm,
devoted,
a little desperate:
“And I hope… I pray… that when I can’t guide Charlie, you will. Hell needs people like her. And it needs people like you. Together.”
He kisses your forehead,
a reverent gesture,
almost worship.
“My queen,” he whispers against your skin,
“I’ve never been more proud… or more afraid… and I love that.”
Then, joking shyly under his breath:
“I can’t believe I’ve bagged another terrifying goddess. Truly, an addiction at this point.”
He laughs nervously—
Lucifer Morningstar,
nervous.
And in love.
💫CHARLIE💕
Charlie freezes when the mask slips. Her smile falters—just once—because the thought hits her immediately: How long were you carrying this alone? Why didn’t you trust me?
She tries to stay composed since millions just saw the reveal live, but you can see it in her eyes—confusion mixed with a sting of betrayal. Later, when cameras are off, she quietly asks:
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Not yelling. Not accusing. Just soft hurt. She squeezes her tail nervously and avoids eye contact for a moment.
“When we decided to be together, I thought we promised honesty…”
Her voice shakes, but she doesn’t pull away from you. Because Charlie isn’t someone who gives up on love easily.
But then, understanding floods through her: “You must have had reasons… Hell doesn’t treat the powerful kindly.”
Her heart aches at the idea of you going through centuries of punishment ALONE. She gently takes your hand and smiles—wobbly but loving:
“Just…please don’t keep things like that from me again.”
And then—because Charlie always dreams forward— “If you’ll help the hotel—with your powers—and with redemption… then of course I forgive you.”
She kisses your cheek and whispers: “I love all sides of you… even the terrifying ones.”
🦋 VAGGIE🪽
When the whole internet of Hell erupts over your livestream identity reveal, Vaggie shuts the screen off before the comments could get hateful.
She doesn’t ask questions, doesn’t accuse, doesn’t raise her voice. She just sits beside you quietly, knees touching your knees, and says in a painfully soft whisper:
“…I’ve hidden who I was too.”
At first, you think she means her life—she shakes her head. No who she was.
“No. That’s only part of it. I hid because I didn’t know who I was. And I thought if people knew, I’d be targeted, or used, or hated.”
A long pause. A long inhale.
Her voice trembles:
“I was an Angel, an exorcist” I thought being honest would mean losing everything… I’m sorry my love”
And it hits you—she understands in a way almost no one else possibly could.
Then she takes your hands in hers, squeezing so tight her gloves creak.
“Thank you for surviving long enough to meet me.”
You blink—she’s crying silently.
There is no judgment in her touch. Only empathy. Only understanding.
Then she confesses: “I’m terrified most days. I pretend I’m strong for everyone. But I know what it’s like to carry fear alone… so now that everyone knows your truth, let me share mine.”
She leans into your shoulder, voice small and fragile:
“Don’t hide from me. I won’t hide from you anymore either.”
She doesn’t kiss you. She rests her forehead against yours—the most intimate acceptance she’s capable of.
🗡️ ADAM🎸
Adam’s shock slowly turns into something forbidden and intoxicating. He laughs—half panicked, half flustered:
“Of course you’d be an Overlord. Because this relationship wasn’t already sinful enough.”
He paces, visibly stressed, visibly turned on, visibly annoyed with himself:
“I should condemn you. I should. But… I can’t. Because I love you and your—entire physical situation is—very distracting.”
Eventually, Adam corners you gently, voice dropping: “But there have to be rules. If we’re doing this… you need to help me with exterminations.”
You cross your arms, “Only if exterminations get cut in HALF—and only every two years.”
Adam scoffs, dramatic: “That’s ridiculous…”
Silence. Then quiet surrender.
“…Fine. I’ll make it work. But you owe me for this.”
His fingers slip around your waist: “And yes, we’re still together. Even if Heaven would smite me if they knew.”
🪽 ABEL🪽
Abel looks at you with a shattered expression. His voice almost gone:
“You’re one of them? The ones they warned us about?”
He retreats a step, wings tucked back, trying to breathe through the disappointment, through fear of losing you:
“You killed, you ruled, you conquered—was any of it necessary?”
Your silence hurts him more than any confession.
Then you take him to your territory— not violent, not chaotic, but structured, peaceful, organized.
Like a strange functioning kingdom instead of Hell’s chaotic madness.
Abel looks around, amazed: “This is… civilized. You protected these people…?”
He turns to you slowly, expression softening into stunned relief.
“My love… maybe you were surviving, not destroying.”
He cups your cheek gently, voice breaking: “But you can’t keep secrets from me anymore. Not when we’re partners.”
Then, with serious warmth: “And I want something in return… join Charlie’s redemption plan. Help your people rise. Help yourself rise.”
Finally, soft, hopeful: “I think… I can still believe in you.”

here‘s part iii , here‘s part v
masterlist: Lost but found twice
warnings: death
(F/N) = friend‘s name
NEW ORLEANS, 1926
New Orleans sleeps uneasy that night.
The streets glisten with leftover rain, the air heavy with the stink of whiskey and iron.
Somewhere, a radio hums softly through a cracked window — a familiar voice carrying laughter and swing tunes across the dark.
But he isn’t listening.
The man sitting in the alley, collar up, hat low, is listening to something else. The whisper of memory. The sound of his brother’s voice — the last one before he vanished.
He’d spent months trying to track down who did it. The police had written it off as another back-alley killing — “Wrong place, wrong time.” But that wasn’t good enough. His brother wasn’t some vagrant. He had a name. A life. A family.
And now, finally, he has a name in return.
Alastor Hartfelt.
(I just used that last name cuz it is a popular hc, so u can always change it)
At first, he doesn’t believe it. The charming radio host, the laughing man whose voice everyone in the city adores? Impossible. But the more he digs — the darker it gets. Witnesses. Rumors. The way the murders seem to follow Alastor’s schedule. The same streets. The same nights.
Now he knows. And knowing burns.
But how do you destroy a man like that?
A man everyone loves, everyone protects — whose smile is printed on posters and whose voice sings through every home?
If he goes to the police, they’ll laugh in his face. There’s no proof. Just whispers.
So he starts thinking differently.
If the city won’t take Alastor from its pedestal… he’ll make him fall another way. He’ll make him hurt.
And then he sees her.
In a photograph. At first, in the paper — “The Beloved Fiancée of New Orleans’ Radio Star.” Smiling, radiant, with his arm around her waist. The picture of innocence.
He stares at that picture until his fingers crumple the page.
Because now he knows what to do.
Killing Alastor would be too easy.
But killing the woman he loves — that’s justice.
————————————————————————
Morning light spills through the open windows of the theatre, dust swirling golden in the air. You’re laughing again — loud, unrestrained — the kind of laughter that echoes against the velvet curtains and painted walls. The kind that makes people turn their heads and smile without even knowing why.
It’s been a year. A year since you last set foot in that little house that doesn’t exist to you anymore. A year since the blood, the trembling, the silence. And somehow, you’ve managed to build a life again — piece by piece — like a performer putting on her costume, pretending it all fits.
“Careful there, sugar,” (F/N) calls out, her sequined skirt flashing as she balances a stack of sheet music. “You keep laughing like that and people gonna think you actually enjoy working here.”
You grin, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “Well, maybe I do,” you say. “You’re here, aren’t you?”
She smirks. “Flattery don’t get you outta rehearsal, sweetheart.”
You roll your eyes and lean against the piano, the scent of stage dust and perfume thick in the air. It’s routine — the laughter, the teasing, the music — and for the first time in months, you feel normal.
“Anyway,” (F/N) says, nudging your shoulder, “you still going out with your fancy man tonight?”
That earns her a playful glare. “You mean my fiancé?”
She throws her hands up dramatically. “Oh, excuse me, Mrs. Fancy Radio Star-to-be!”
You can’t help but laugh. “He’s taking me out again, yes. Said he’s got some sort of surprise planned.”
“Well, that’s new. He usually is the surprise,” she teases, smirking as she flips through the sheet music. “What’s it like, bein’ engaged to the most charming man in New Orleans?”
You think about that for a moment. “Exhausting,” you answer with a soft chuckle. “He’s always in the spotlight, always irritating, always—”
“—making you smile?”
You glance down at your engagement ring. The gold catches the morning light, scattering it into tiny sparks. “Yeah,” you admit quietly. “Always.”
Outside the theatre doors, the street hums with life — trams rattling, vendors shouting, the scent of coffee and sugar drifting in from the corner café. You wave goodbye to (F/N) as she disappears backstage, promising to meet her later before the evening show.
And then — for just a second — something catches your eye across the street.
A man, standing too still in the sunlight. A wide-brimmed hat hiding most of his face. Watching the building. Watching you.
You blink, and he’s gone. Just another shadow among the crowd.
You shake your head, brushing it off with a half-smile. Paranoia, maybe. Too many crime stories from Alastor’s broadcasts, you think.
You turn away, unaware that the same man — the one with hate burning colder than reason — lingers just around the corner.
Watching you walk away, hands in his coat pockets.
Waiting for nightfall.
————————————————————————
By the time dusk settles over New Orleans, the city hums like a heartbeat — steady, alive, draped in jazz and perfume. From your open window, you can hear the faint echoes of trumpets from a nearby speakeasy and the distant laughter of people on their way to somewhere wonderful.
You’re standing in front of the mirror, holding a golden earring in one hand and debating if the (fav shade) lipstick is too much. You tell yourself it isn’t — he always liked you in (fav shade).
Said it made you look like something rare, something bright enough to light up the whole room — his way of wording that you look gorgeous in it.
Your reflection stares back at you, polished and perfect, but your chest feels hollow. You haven’t slept well in days. Sometimes when it’s quiet, your mind drifts back to that night — your father’s face, the sound that won’t leave your ears. You swallow the memory down with a shaky breath, whispering to yourself, not tonight.
“Tonight’s a happy night,” you murmur under your breath, straightening your hair. “You promised.”
You grab your little purse and head down the stairs of your building, stepping into the glow of the gaslights. The air smells faintly of magnolias and rain.
And there he is — Alastor, leaning against a lamppost like he stepped out of one of his own broadcasts, a bouquet of crimson lilies in hand and that same sly grin that always threatens to undo you.
“Ah, there’s my songbird,” he greets, sweeping into an exaggerated bow before offering you the flowers. “I was beginning to think you’d decided to elope without me!”
You laugh softly, shaking your head. “Don’t tempt me. You show up five minutes early and act like I’m late.”
“Five minutes without your company feels like an eternity, my dear,” he replies smoothly, and you roll your eyes.
“Flatterer.”
The two of you start walking down the lantern-lit street, arm in arm, your heels tapping rhythmically against the cobblestone. He’s animated tonight — charming the passersby, greeting strangers like old friends, his laughter filling the space around you. He talks about a new idea for his show, a ridiculous comedy skit involving a ghost orchestra. You tease him that it sounds too chaotic even for him, and he only grins wider.
You don’t notice how, from a nearby alley, a shadow follows your laughter with narrowed eyes.
————————————————————————
Later, the two of you are sitting on the edge of a quiet pier, away from the noise of the city. He’s taken you here often — says the river sounds like an orchestra when the wind’s right. The moonlight ripples across the water, painting it silver, and he’s humming softly beside you, one arm draped loosely over your shoulders.
“You seem… tired tonight,” he says after a moment, his tone softer than usual.
You shrug. “Just thinking, that’s all.”
“About what?”
You hesitate, eyes fixed on the water. “About how fast things change.”
He studies you, the grin faltering just slightly. “You’re not having second thoughts, are you?”
You shake your head quickly, smiling faintly. “No. Just thoughts.”
He chuckles, brushing his thumb against your chin to tilt your face toward his. “Good. I’d hate to have to persuade you all over again.”
The kiss he gives you then is slow, grounding — the kind that melts time away. For a moment, everything feels still. Perfect.
Across the river, the man with the rifle exhales.
He’s been waiting for hours, hidden beneath the trees, eyes fixed through the scope. His hands tremble — not with hesitation, but fury. The sound of Alastor’s laugh drifts across the water, and it’s like a knife twisting in his chest.
He remembers the headline.
The photograph of his brother’s body.
The stories of “The New Orleans Butcher.”
And he knows.
He knows that man’s voice. The one that fills his radio, grinning while the city sleeps. The one everyone adores.
He can’t touch Alastor — not without getting caught. But the woman sitting beside him? The one laughing like she’s in love?
That’s how he’ll make him pay.
Back at the pier, you stand and stretch, turning to him with a teasing smirk. “I told you I’d outshine the moon tonight.”
He laughs quietly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You do, my dear. You always do.”
And in that exact moment — the smile still on your lips — the air cracks.
The night is soft, the river shimmering under the moonlight, and for a fleeting moment, it feels like the world is holding its breath just for you. You laugh at something Alastor whispers, the sound of his voice warm and familiar against your ear. His hand brushes yours, steady, grounding — and you think, I am exactly where I’m meant to be.
Then the world shatters in a single, impossible instant.
A sharp pain erupts in your chest. Your knees buckle. You gasp, a sound caught between a scream and disbelief, and Alastor’s eyes widen in panic as he sees you stumble backward. You try to speak, to tell him it’s nothing, that you’re fine — but the words dissolve into ragged breaths.
You hear the faint rustle of movement across the riverbank, too distant to catch clearly, but the intention is unmistakable. You clutch at your chest, the warmth spreading like fire, the air tasting metallic. Your legs fail you, and you fall backward, hands scrabbling for anything to hold onto.
“Y/N!” Alastor’s voice cracks, raw with fear. He lunges for you, arms outstretched, but he’s too late. The river catches you before he can.
Cold, merciless water wraps around you, pulling at your clothes, your hair, dragging you further from the edge. You flail, but your strength is failing, each breath harder than the last. And through the haze of pain, you see him — Alastor — reaching, screaming your name, but unable to touch you.
Alastor doesn’t think. He just moves. One leap, one frantic rush into the icy river, hands gripping desperately at the water. He drags you toward him, chest heaving, arms burning with cold and exertion, adrenaline and panic blurring everything.
When he finally hauls you onto the bank, the world tilts around him. He kneels there, shaking, chest heaving, the moonlight catching your still form in his arms. He holds you like he could somehow prop up the weight of your life against his own, bridal-style, cradling you against his chest, rocking slightly, murmuring your name over and over: “Y/N… Y/N… wake up…”
But your eyes don’t flutter. Your body doesn’t respond. Your lips are cold.
He freezes. The world stops. The city hums far away, ignorant, as he stares down at you, wide-eyed, disbelief flickering into horror.
The first tear doesn’t come. He just holds you, heart hammering, mind racing, breath catching. The edges of panic fray around him, and for a long, suspended moment, he simply sits there, staring, unable to process, unable to move.
————————————————————————
Somewhere far above, a shadowed figure watches. The man who pulled the trigger leans against a tree across the river, calm and deliberate. He’s distant, unseen, his breath even, rifle still in hand.
He watches the chaos he has created, a faint smirk curling his lips. He doesn’t move, doesn’t approach. Justice — or vengeance, as he calls it — has been delivered in the only way he could.
Across the water, Alastor rocks back and forth, frozen in the cold moonlight with the lifeless body of the woman he loves in his arms. He doesn’t scream. He doesn’t cry. Not yet.
And somewhere, the shadow of the man who set it all in motion disappears into the night, leaving only the river, the cold, and the finality of what’s been done.
"Justice… in the only way he could feel it.”
————————————————————————
PRIDE RING, HELL, 1926
Your eyes snap open to red.
Not red like blood—but red like the sky is bleeding. The air burns, thick and heavy, and everything hums, as if the world itself is singing a note you can’t quite hear.
You try to sit up, but your body feels wrong. The ground beneath you ripples like liquid, and when you lift your hands, your breath catches. They aren’t your hands. The skin glows faintly, tinged with gold and pale blue, webbing stretching thinly between your fingers. They shimmer when the crimson light touches them.
Panic seizes you. You scramble toward the nearest reflective surface—a pool, a fragment of glass, anything—and freeze.
The face that stares back isn’t yours. Hair spills down in longer waves and golden streaks in your hair, catching light like sunlight through water. Strange fins curve where your ears should be, fluttering with each breath you take. Your eyes glint like polished amber, too bright, too inhuman.
You stumble back, shaking your head. “No—no, this isn’t—"
So the only thing you do is—
Let out the highest pitched scream Hell has ever heard looking at yourself (girl dw ur not ugly but u just confused).
Some other sinners passing by give you a weird look. One exchanges to the other
"What‘s wrong with that weird bitch?“ and just go back to their own business.
Around you, the landscape howls—flames licking the horizon, shapes moving in the distance. Screams, laughter, the hum of chaos.
Hell.
Wait, hell.
"Fuck“ You only mutter very quietly to yourself.
The word falls flat against the heat. The realization hits harder than the bullet ever did.
You’re dead.
And somehow, that feels less terrifying than the fact that you’re here.

Yeah this is actually pretty much exactly what is going on. It’s why anti-oxidants are such a big deal. Bonus fact: oxygen oxidizes stuff in your cells or, in other words, it’s not toxic, just setting you on fire very very slowly.
What if there are aliens out there but they subsist on entirely different substances and they’re just scared as shit of us and our crazy ass hell planet? Once in a while some alien anthropologist type suggests checking out the people on this inhabited planet out towards the galaxy’s edge. The other aliens just look at the naive academic with horror. No!! We do not go to that world. That is where the DEATH BREATHERS live. They recreationally consume poisons and are more or less composed of biological fire. Their atmosphere is made of rocket fuel. We must leave the DEATH BREATHERS in peace. Do not go there. Do not.
okay but…that is actually what went down on earth about 2.5 billion years ago.
Earth was doing just fine with a mostly nitrogen/carbon dioxide atmosphere and everyone was happy to go on living in anaerobic bliss and then cyanobacteria suddenly hit the scene, altered the atmosphere composition so that there was a ton of oxygen gas and killed practically everything (97% or more of all species on earth).
We are literally descendants of the DEATH BREATHERS and cyanobacteria is our deadly mother.
The cyanobacteria holocaust is so big, it doesn’t even have a cool name; it’s just called “The Great Oxygenation Event”; the *second* most apocalyptic extinction event in our planet’s history is the one that’s called THE GREAT DYING (the Permian-Triassic event, about 252 million years ago).
This shit makes like the rock-throwing that wiped out the dinosaurs look like kindergarten.
I see a lot of people in the notes are still skeptical, so

It’s more than just a theory on tumblr. It’s an accepted hypothesis by a large number of extremely well-respected scientists. Not that oxygen kills us in 75-100 years, but oxygen is actually poisonous to all living beings. So yes…. Earth is a deathworld.
The whole premise of the first Pikmin game is that Oxygen is a deadly poison to all life yet somehow pnf 404 (or earth as we call it) is abundant with the thing and yet life goes on. The planet isn’t just hostile because of the predators roaming the surface, the planet itself is trying to kill you.

my theory is dragons kidnap princesses for the same reason they hoard gold and other treasure, which is the perceived value and the bragging rights thereof. however, unlike precious metals and gems, human attractiveness is way more subjective, so you end up with dragons calculating the most valuable princess to nab and getting frustrated when their math doesn't check out...
This is funny because it implies the dragon is refusing to let her be rescued by knights who are just in it for the monetary reward, they have to WANT the princess to even qualify for a fight.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
I attended an anti-suicide seminar in college. One of the big takeaways from it was that stigmatizing suicide increases the rate of suicide, because people who are feeling suicidal feel like they can't ask for help. Every time I see babytalk garbage like 'unalive', I think of that.
