“Mm, you throwing shade, Leon? Watch yourself. And please, James hardly tells me anything. But what’d he say exactly? You seem pretty pissed off.”

“I’m just pointing out facts. And well, it seems like he’s not telling me anything right now either. He’s been asking to be given space, whatever that means.”

“I see, guess I’ll wait. But what’d he do this time? Don’t tell me he tried to limit your alcohol use too.”

"Ah, I know my limits, unlike a certain someone. But I don’t know, maybe you should ask him about why he’s decided that this is a good week to be a huge dick. Apparently he won’t tell me.”

“Hey, you seen my brothers around lately? I have things for them, from our mum. Kind of important.”

“James is right there being a dick.”

“I thought it was clever–and you know I save all of my wittiest material for you. Have to keep up with your Ravenclaw brain, don’t I?” She teased fondly. “And I’ll have you know I’ve been looking for all of ten minutes–very thorough search, Ritter!” She smiled, arm linked with his, “But really, missed you last night. Which just means you owe me some Leonette bonding time.”

“Mmhm, of course,” Leon nodded lazily, regarding Annette with a look filled with amusement. “It seems like you weren’t looking thoroughly enough if it took you ten minutes to find me, Bardon. I was hiding here in plain sight.” Letting the girl drag him along with her while he looked down at the top of her head and teasingly nudged her, he gestured at Mathieu Lestrange who was walking down the hallway. “Careful there, Mathieu might get jealous if he heard you say Leonette.”

“No!” Annette said, but stopped anyway, grabbing Leon by his arm and continuing in the direction he’d been walking, “Fine, but only because I was looking for you anyway, Houdini. Where have you been hiding lately? I’m feeling neglected.”

“Houdini, hm?” he repeated, his lips curving into an amused grin at Annette’s antics. “That’s a new one. I haven’t been hiding, ‘Nette, you just haven’t been looking hard enough.”

“See, I would, but I don’t want to. I have places to be that don’t include here, engaged in idle chatter.”

Leon brows rose at his friend’s response, before lightly punching James’ shoulder and rolling his eyes. Leave it to James to sass him for asking such a simple request. “See, I don’t understand why you feel like you need to be such a huge asshole right now.”
