To vote wisely is to be an educated citizen--someone who is civically engaged and politically conscious. It means to stay aware of current events and public policy that pertains to you and the community, and to figure out how your elected politicians and potential candidates (might) vote on them. It is very important to vote wisely, know who is the best candidate and casting your vote for that candidate. You may have your own criteria for judging who is the best candidate, but in very broad terms, the factors to be considered would include character, political, ethical moral and social beliefs and track record (if any). I believe everyone who votes wants what is best for the community, state or nation, but to ensure that, we have to put some effort into choosing whom we vote for.
Voting is the most important way to make our voice heard on the issues that concerns you. It gives us an opportunity to be part of decision-making that affects our lives. Those decisions are made on our behalf every day, healthcare, education, housing, global issues like defence and environment and local issues like leisure facilities. Voting is an important way of having our say on the issues we care about. By voting wisely we are also deciding who will take decision on issues affecting your everyday life. It is one of the most impactful things that we can do for ourselves and our community.
Simply put, voting is power, says Dr. Cobb. âThe theory of democracy is that it is a government for and by the people, and the vote is the basic building block that gives people the power to control their government and to shape what policies they want and the future direction of their town, state, and country,â she says, adding that your vote should serve as âthe great equalizerâ. But thatâs not always the case. There are many people for whom the right to vote is taken away.
In this coming elections, the choice is clear and simple: to vote for candidates who are honest, capable and dedicated enough to do what is good for the advancement and benefit of both the nation s and the peopleâs welfare. And, in case you havenât realized it yet, it takes more than just the ability to sing, dance and act to be a candidate of the people and for all the people all the time. Ask yourself: Am I happy with the way things are or do I long for a better life? If you choose the latter, you need to make sure that you vote for the right candidates. Whatever your decision, it should not be made in ignorance, but after careful consideration.
If we did that, I believe we would have better government.
