Finalmente. She groaned. After what seemed to be a year on a turbulent flight of doom, she finally landed in the infamous Aphroditeâs Cove.
Stepping out of the plane, the brunette could already tell she no longer was within the arid rays of Arizona desert. The air felt heavy and the vapors stuck infuriatingly to her skin.Â
She could feel blood seep into her mouth, most likely due to reopening a wound from the match the night before. Due to the early flight, she was unable to get back into her office to grab some medicinal assistance. Joder.
She heard rumors about the remote island a few months back and while it did peak her curiosity and her exasperating brain of being entranced by anything that remotely seemed diverting, a part of her knew this was just a ploy to get tourists. Soulmates? Funny. While Valeria was keen on keeping steady relationships, she strongly alleged soulmates was a rather foolish concept created by economic elitists. But alas, she still spent money to come down here so was she really any better?
She was assisted to the famed castle where she assumed sheâd be lodging for the next couple of â weeks? Months? She didnât care. Nonetheless, it was a bit too spendthrift for the woman and she shifted irrepressibly in the cabâs seat before mustering up a percent of courage to leave the vehicle.
She stood in front of the building, merely gaping at the extravagance of the whole situation before realizing she had absolutely no clue the whereabouts of her room or rather â what she was even supposed to do here. She turned around â mouth open â ready to ask a question to be met with no cab. FantĂĄstico. Guess Iâll just have to find my way around on my own.
As she began to walk towards the front doors, she spotted a rather tall blonde man who seemed to be with a young child. With Valâs background in medicine and specialty in children, she never found herself uncomfortable with those younger than her.
âHello, sir?â She called before strolling up to the stranger. When she locked eyes with the man, something felt â different. She couldnât really put her finger on it but it was like the sensation of meeting someone you had not seen in a very long time. It was like she already knew him, but that canât be true. Sheâs never seen the man before.
She could feel the sensation of her neck increasing heat.  ExtraĂąo.  This was a feeling sheâs never felt before.
Liam was beginning to think that his mother had ulterior motives in bringing him to Aphroditeâs Cove. To be quite honest, he hadnât done his research when she suggested they move, trusting that she knew best. They didnât live together, not even close, but Liamâs mother was the only other person in the world heâd trust with Lottie, so wherever Mom went, Liam went, too. But when heâd begun to hear that the only reason people came to the island was to find their soulmate? Well, thatâs when Liam began to see straight through his motherâs bullshit.
Soulmates werenât a thing Liam believed in. Neither was love. Heâd had it once, and it had given him Charlotte, but other than that... it didnât exist. It couldnât happen more than once in someoneâs lifetime. That just didnât make sense. Defeated the purpose of âone true loveâ as it were.
Liam knew, however, that he did eventually have to cool it on the one night stands. He did have to chill out with the flirtation. He logic-ed it away, saying that if he was happy, so was little Lottie.
It was time for Lottie to go to school. Liam got her dressed, fed, and her hair done just like she liked it. She wanted to walk on her own, without holding Liamâs hand. God, sheâs getting too old for me already? Heart somewhat broken, though mind incredibly amused by the forwardness of his little girl, Liam followed her outside.
He heard a beckoning and glanced up at the woman whoâd called him. And everything... stopped. The earth stood still for a moment. He felt a twinge of something that shot through his heart right to his gut, making him feel weak. Confused. He tilted his head as though a new perspective would help, but the bolt of near lightning had unearthed him a bit. He was woozy.
Lottie tugged on his hand, pleading, âWeâre going to be late, Daddy!â
He nodded, but couldnât tear his eyes away from the woman whoâd stopped him. âOne second Charlotte... can I help you?â
