and like, if individual pieces of art aren't materially impactful on the world, is capital a Art capital I Important in some big metaphyiscal way? i don't really think so either honestly. i mean i love art and creating art and thinking about art. that's like half of what this blog is about, the fact that i need somewhere to put all my thoughts about works of art. art is hugely important to me and has shaped my life. but ultimately art is just a particular set of social and intellectual activities, and many people live perfectly happy and fufilling lives without ever particularly thinking about it. i think "art is a deep metaphysical need of the soul", "art is what makes us human" etc is just more artist self-flattery

I have this reoccurring dream I get on occasion where I’m at work and completely 100% topless and usually when this dream happens dream-me either tries to play it off like no one will notice while feeling extremely embarrassed or run away/try to hide my chest behind various Objects while still hoping no one will notice. And I must have been more lucid than usual when I had this dream last night because while I did go for the hope no one notices/use a pile of books as a shield combo, I also realized that it kind of actually seemed like no one was noticing or caring, which then led to me psychoanalyzing my own dream while I was still actively in the dream, and it fucking worked??? As soon as I came to the conclusion that this was actually just a metaphor for feeling self-conscious and being hyperaware of things absolutely no one else gives a fuck about my lightning thief musical tshirt (still a little inappropriate for work lmao) materialized on my body and I spent the rest of the dream wearing it and going about my work day like normal. ?????

Okay, apparently now whenever I have the shirtless dreams dream-me is able to pull from this memory and be like, “no it’s okay this doesn’t actually matter, no one cares” and then a shirt will materialize on me again.
