Have I returned at a bad time?
I finally remembered my password after going on hiatus for almost three years... it wasnât even saved on my new laptop either obviously. I wonder how many people still use Tumblr that I was close with prior to hiatus-ing? Reach out, yâallboi.
Honestly have no idea whatâs going on with Tumblr anymore. Iâve gone through so much in the past few weeks or months, however you wanna measure it. I guess this is what adulting is like. Donât graduate from college ever. What follows it is just heartache and agony and brokeness.
Harmonigraph readings. La mĂŠthode graphique dans les sciences expĂŠrimentales et principalement en physiologie et en mĂŠdecine. 1885.Â
Iâve completed my top-20 best songs, ever, list. Finally. No order. Iâm only putting ten here; itâll be two posts bc Iâm lazy.
1. Anberlin âPray Tellâ I interpreted the lyrics as being different accounts of man, God, and Satan, all taking place as the verses change. The music is upbeat; an African-influenced rhythm, which resembles a hunt, a chase, in a safari. God and Satan are both hunting after the human, trying to get his attention.
2. Anberlin âChange the Worldâ The lyrics speak for themselves.
3. Anchor & Braille âBlur.â Hopeless lovers that canât seem to get it right. The speaker is finally tired of their spouseâs crap, and essentially call them out about it. Highly relative to any amorous personâs life.
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers âDark Necessitiesâ Easily, this song will be the one with the bassline that I tell my kids about, like my parents did with Micheal Jacksonâs âBeat It.â Anthony Keidis provides lyrics that show, yeah, I like things that arenât good for me, and yeah, Iâm kinda crazy. But itâs how Iâm made. Dark necessities are part of my design.
5. Thrice âDaedalusâ Iconic capturing of the emotions of Daedalus as he watches his son disobey him, and fall to his death. The last verse and outro provide the listener with a harsh understanding of Daedalusâ pain; he hollers out to the gods in agony, and the guitar wails in the background along with him, amplifying his pain.
6. George Harrison âRun of the Millâ Though it was a directly vague (huh?) stab at his ex-bandmates, specifically Paul and John, George still shows that no matter where you (anyone) may end up after all is said and done: itâs your choice. Your decisions are your life. And whatever youâre chasing after in this world, hopefully, it keeps you safe, at the end of it all, when youâve ran away everyone else who cared.
7. The Verve âSonnetâ Basically, thereâs love here, and Iâm gonna give it to you, if you want it, but donât expect it to be flawless and easy. The somber music but steady rhythm calms you down while you listen, believing that maybe falling in love with someone whoâs not all that great, wonât be so bad after all.
8. George Harrison âHear Me Lordâ A personal prayer to God, by George, laid out into a harmonic plea. George begins the song with a solid piano and drum build-up, with backing vocals, crying out, âHear me, Lordâ until he comes in with a painfully true and relative first line of, âForgive me, Lord, please, those years when I ignored You.â Many of us find ourselves getting caught up in life, inadvertently running away from God, but feeling ashamed about it afterwards.Â
9. The Carpenters âYesterday Once Moreâ Karen gives a velvet vocal performance here, with nostalgic lyrics that we can all relate to. We all have that song that reminds us of yesterday; the song may break our hearts, but itâs still a part of our memories.
10. Elton John âLittle Jeannieâ Yes, you were someoneâs fool, at one point, Jeannie, but guess what? Iâm your fool. I have my own personal Jeannie. Always will.
