Pepper looked at the younger woman with a soft smile touching her features. “Oh, you know, I’m not sure,” she admitted. “I don’t really have very much of a sweet tooth. Maybe you could try looking online? I’m sure there are plenty of places around here with reviews.”

veronica smiled softly. “well thank you anyway. i suppose i’ll just have to have a look around. i usually don’t trust the big chains you know? like a little run down looking place. they always seem to be the hidden gems.” 

So lost in his thoughts, Klaus almost didn’t realize someone had spoken, but as he looked up –still biting on the nail of his thumb– he saw a young woman. It took a moment more for her question to sink in before he nodded and allowed his hand to drop, though his leg continued to bounce with nervous energy. “Yeah, actually I do.” There was so little of the town he knew well, but he quickly learned where to find good waffles, good milkshakes and –entirely unrelated to the first two–where every bar stood. Including the one he found Dave in. That one was his favorite. Though he had yet to actually touch a drink in any which was a miracle in and of itself.

Standing up, maybe a little too suddenly if his brain had anything to say about it, he stretched. “I can show you if you like.” Honestly, he could use the distraction. Sobriety was a hell of a lot easier if you had something to occupy your time. Though, he was starting to wonder if it was worth it.

when veronica didn’t get an answer straight away, she began to feel bad for disturbing him. she often forgot that not everyone was as open for a conversation as she was. though her smile soon returned when she got an answer, especially one that helped her. she was sure she was gonna go crazy if she didn’t have a sugar rush. “oh brilliant! that’s exactly the answer i was looking for.” she said with a big smile. “yeah sure, why not? company is always welcomed.” 

“Ohh! Ohh girl you gotta try the sweets shop down the street! First off the guy who runs it? Totally a fucking hottie. Secondly, he puts so much sugar into his milkshakes you’d get withdrawals and the ice cream is made in house.” Aphrodite states sweetly.

there are several boxes of take-out, all from a local diner, spread out across the top of a picnic table.  most have only a few bites taken out of them, with almost the entire dish still left.    but loki’s picking at all of them, not sticking to just one and eating it full through.  there’s a moment of discomfort when they can feel someone’s gaze on them, and they turn to stare back.  “what?” loki asks, peering up at the other over the top of their sunglasses, “do you think if you stare long enough, i’ll share some with you?  because i won’t.  i’ll need a bit more incentive than staring.”
