underground cities dead, chambered

dominion the nerves of the body, hunt

daybreak / carrion lilies dead places

in your memory the cry of a bird we walk together

still water there's rot in the wood a light on the shore

a lonely signal a lonely song

you, in the half-dark hot concrete

a name forgotten a shadow moves

some bright morning there's nothing in the dark in your memory

wind through the sand. a high tower. echoing corridors.

the rattle of the lock marks in the floorboards if you went home

the iron of blood / distant shadows moving / hot metal

a grave for the memory. the ebb of the tide. the stripped hills

somewhere in the light not returning

cold and bright in the deep, known
