So, within the last year, I’ve been through a major depression. I lost my job and my home, and at some points, even my mind. Thoughts of suicide have returned over and over and over, and I’m on the verge of giving up. 

But I want to give life one more try, and I’ve decided that I want to work hard to make my dreams come true. 

My dreams consist of writing an acoustic album, painting 10 beautiful pictures, tattooing people for cheap, starting a hilarious youtube channel, and doing some photoshoots. :) If I get big in any of these areas, I will always thank Tumblr!

Your high IQ never impressed EVEN YOU? Wow, that makes two of us. (And it wouldn’t have impressed me even if my IQ wasn’t higher than that, but thanks for assuming it would be so intimidating that I would need reassurance.)

This weird interaction was preceded by about ten previous messages that I answered with little enthusiasm because they were basically contentless. It was just poorly executed bragging about himself. He was telling me how well-read he was, announced that he had read all the National Geographics when he was a kid, and told me he was looking for “intellectual conversation” with someone who wouldn’t be scared of his mind. Another gem:

Im simply looking for someone that I can have a fantastic and profoundly intellectual conversation with. Someone who doesn’t feel intimidated by the idea, or the word’s that I use. Weather it be Astronomy, Astrophysics, chemistry, History, Medicine, Literature, or mythology. And someone who knows the difference between De vince and Monnett or Rembrandt. I will patiently wait for you’re reply

Oh, honey. I promise your overwhelming intellect is not in any way the source of my dissatisfaction with you.

There was also this:

I’ve never spoken to anyone as unique as yourself. For instance when you stated that you’re asexual it totally perplexed me that a woman as attractive as you are would state such an unprecedented thing. Forgive me for saying that you’re attractive, I remember that’s a big no no. But I have a tendency to speak my mind.

Oh goodie. Presumption that an asexual identity is baffling if a woman is attractive, and that asexuality is “unprecedented” (no, dude), and on top of that he expects me to find it refreshing that he bravely does things I explicitly ask people not to do in my profile, because after all, he speaks his mind. I’m so relieved that occasionally I’ll run into a man who’s willing to ignore my silly boundaries, since that’s so hard to find!
