Hi, my name is Plum, and I'm a transgender disabled person living off of SSI. Over the past week(?) I have developed an incredibly painful abcess in one of my molars that I will be getting a root canal and crown to fix- this is medically necessary, and I cannot put it off to save money unless I want to risk an infection. I have medicaid insurance by being on SSI, but this is not going to cover the treatment I need. I have tried so, so hard to find a place that'll accept my insurance for the treatment, but the only other practice that was willing to look at me severely underestimated both my pain and the seriousness of what I'm dealing with, and sent me home while dismissing my concerns. I do not feel safe returning to this practice for care.

I'm planning on sacrificing most of my paycheck this upcoming month (which, for the sake of transparency, will be somewhere in the ballpark of 600 dollars after rent and phone) to pay the costs as swiftly as possible so as not to accrue debt and interest I will be unable to pay back, but the cost is going to be around double what I earn between needing to pay rent and my phone bill, likely coming in around $2,000 US dollars. I believe I will be able to get some minor help from family and close friends, so between that and what I already get paid, I have set a ko-fi goal for $1,000 USD as a broad attempt to cover the rest. I will be updating the goal as needed for the sake of transparency and as costs are fully decided.

the estimate they had given me was an undershot by a pretty long way- the total for the root canal yesterday was around ~1,400 and the total for the permanent filling and crown is going to be around ~1,800, adding over an extra $1,000 to what i had initially expected to pay. between this and the fact that i need to pay 60% down to even SCHEDULE a permanent filling/crown, you can imagine that i am freaking out a little!!

i'm going to be updating the goal on ko-fi later, but i'm bumping the goal up to $2,000, i've only recieved one donation thus far so anything at all helps!!!!

My two biggest sources are Girl Sex 101 by Allison Moon (TME author with TMA consultants) and Fucking Trans Women by Mira Bellwether (trans woman).

Moon's book is a chunky piece (388 pages!) about pretty much all aspects of lesbian sex (physical, social, technical...) and makes it a point to include a ton of stuff for perisex trans women and intersex people, detailing tons of anatomical facts and techniques that aren't just for perisex afab people.

Bellwether's piece is a zine so less content and nothing about intersex bodies, but it is wonderful at demystifying the transfeminine body, making our bodies ours and not for others' consumption, giving transfems ways to talk about what they want from sex without feeling like a burden for it, and providing very straight-on descriptions of the many ways and tons of techniques for fucking trans women.
