Shot in the Arabian desert with a haunting backdrop of the Burj Khalifa, Universal Machine is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a gifted young girl must find a way to understand and overcome a violent encounter with a life-like android

New York-based director and artist Daniel Askill enlisted a host of international creative talent for this project. Renowned American minimalist composer Philip Glass scores an ominous orchestral piece undercut by a stirring mezzo-soprano. Belgian choreographer and Beyonce’s 2017 Grammy performance director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui planned the elaborate fight sequences, while the android was CGI mapped to Japanese dancer Tzuki Kozuki. The star of the film, Evnika Sadvakassova, is a boxer who gained the Guiness World Record for the most full contact punch strikes by a female in one minute. She won this accolade in 2018 at the age of 11.

J'ai réalisé il y a presque 10 ans "7 tonnes 2" un court-métrage mettant en scène un éléphant sur un trampoline. Je voulais faire une suite, cette fois-ci avec des girafes ... Almost 10 years after "7 tonnes 2" a short film featuring an elephant on a trampoline. I wanted to make a sequel, this time with giraffes ... The creation of this film is spread over 1 year and a half. Thanks to Orange, Arte, Ville de Paris, CNCV, Procirep that allowed the film to come to life.

David Carson - All For a Few Good Waves from Dress Code on Vimeo.

David Carson is arguably the world’s most well known graphic designer. All For a Few Good Waves is a short documentary portrait offering a raw glimpse into the life and work of David, an uncompromising genius, who refuses to be anyone but himself.

After a career as a top ranked pro surfer and high school sociology teacher, he rose to prominence in the 90’s after art directing Transworld, Beach Culture and Ray Gun Magazines before going on to start his studio. With no formal design training, Carson took the design world by storm, upending conventions and breaking traditional rules he didn’t even know existed.
