For most of my life, becoming a member of the Recording Academy was one of my biggest dreams. After the Hollywood brawl in 2018, I felt blackballed from the industry, but I never stopped believing in my purpose.
I spent 13 years homeless throughout Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley, yet I refused to let my circumstances define my future. Along the way, I became a two-time college graduate, had my photography and personal story featured in the Los Angeles Times, and was profiled by several Los Angeles publications that recognized my work and resilience.
This past week, after 16 years of grinding independently, I received an invitation to join the Recording Academy. For me, it wasn't just an invitation—it was validation that perseverance still matters.
The moment I stepped back onto Hollywood Boulevard, I knew I was back.
If Parkinson's disease is the next chapter of my life, then I'll meet it with the same determination that carried me from homelessness to graduation, from being overlooked to being recognized, and from surviving to thriving.
This isn't the end of my story. If anything, it's the final curtain call of a career built on resilience, faith, and refusing to quit. 🎬🎓📸🎵💯
