leilani morton for parton festival 2022
mayahirsch¡:
Leilani was the kind of woman Maya can only hope of being. She was driven, optimistic, and an overall ray of light. And Maya often found herself overly jealous in the face of someone elseâs light no matter who it was. But it was different with Leilani. For once, Maya didnât feel that pang of sudden jealousy when around her, because her light and happy personality was just too infectious. Even now, Maya can feel her already good mood improving.Â
âOh my God, speaking of, I was playing that game where you shoot hoops and you wonât believe how bad I was. I swear at one point the ball like, swerved mid-air and completely missed the basket by an embarrassing amount. It was horrendous and all the kids were laughing at me and rightfully so.â When theyâre back on the topic of tattoos, Mayaâs lips purse in thought. Her eyes wander, attempting to think of something they can get. âWell, the best tattoos are the ones that mean something to you. Something timeless that you know youâll never get tired of. My first was this one,â She begins, reaching up to pull her sweater down to reveal her tattoo, the words âMORE WONDERâ in small uppercase letters near her right collarbone. âThis is from an essay I wrote for English class during my senior year where I talked about wanting to be more adventurous, to seek wonder. And that meant something to me.â She nods to Leilani, âSo, thatâs a good place to start. What means something to you that youâd want on you forever?â
As she listened to Maya explain her experience with one of the festival games, Lani ordered a malibu pineapple from the bartender. âOh I bet those kids were roasting you. Itâs okay though. Maybe youâll run into someone special who will win a few prizes for you and make this whole thing worth it.â She winked, before perking up with a devious smile as another thought came to mind. âOr you can have a little rollercoaster moment Ă la Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg in that one 90s movie.â She was probably being a bit too starry-eyed but festivals always brought those date clichĂŠs to mind for her. It was too bad she didnât have a date this year.
âThat work is really beautiful.â She complimented, taking in the tattoo on her friendâs collarbone. Lani had a lot of things that meant a lot of her. Her salon, her family, her friends, but those were way too many things to get tattooed. If she was being honest with herself, the first thing that came to mind was her love for music. âIâd want something maybe whimsical, but true to me. I could see myself getting a music note or maybe a song lyric, but like a really short lyric.â
đŹđđđŤđđđŤ đđ¨đŤ: open to all ! @voicenotesstartersâ đĽđ¨đđđđ˘đ¨đ§: anywhere around the parton festival, sometime after fatal attractionâs set !
currently, jayâs on cloud nine â the buzz from the adrenaline mixing in nicely with the celebratory drinks still in hand⌠plus whatever that guy offered him earlier settling into his system. nothing could deflate his ego today, itâs simply not possible.Â
which is why he has no shame in grabbing the attention of anyone he thinks he recognises.Â
â hey, did you see it ? did you see me ? â on stage he means, during fatal attractionâs faultless performance where heâs pretty sure he just played the best bass of his life⌠AND looked so fucking cool doing it. this is basically celebrity status confirmed. â iâm tryinâ to find whoever caught my picks â was it you, didja get one ? âÂ
She was wandering around enjoying the ambiance that the festival produced. Everyone just seemed to be having the time of their life. She particularly loved seeing the faces of the smiling children as they ran all around. Gosh, kids really were so cute. She was brought out of her thoughts when she realized someone was speaking to her.
âOh hey! I did see it. That performance was kickass! You guys can really work the crowd.â Lani complimented, giving him a smile. Music would forever hold a special place in her heart and it was always after seeing amazing performances like his bandâs that she really missed it. âUnfortunately, I did not get one. Some other lucky people did. But I could be just as lucky if you take a selfie with me?â She was playing it up a teensy bit but t he just seemed so happy and proud that she wanted to keep it going.
âI am an incurable romantic. I believe in hope, dreams and decency, love tenderness and kindness. I believe in mankind.â

Itâd been nearly a year in this tiny town, and the feeling of it being eerily quaint wasnât lost on her. Ella didnât know if she was craving bigger and better things, or if she just didnât know how to act when the world wasnât flying past her on hyperdrive. âSo how does this compare to past years? This is my first Parton Fest.â An attempt at a friendly smile followed, the antithesis of the âdonât talk to anyoneâ mentality that sheâd adopted in New York City. open @voicenotesstartersâ
âSo far itâs pretty on par with last yearâs to be honest. I highly recommend stopping by Miss Joanneâs to get one of her lovely bouquets. She has a wonderful collection during this time of year.â Leilani always found it wonderful to meet new people. She loved this town and it was always easy for her to brag about all the wonderful things it had to offer.
starter for : @leilanimortonâ. location : bee sting bar. event : parton fest.
After downing a couple drinks, Maya was finally beginning to feel a little looser and in the best way. Thankfully, she wasnât the kind of drunk that started doing splits and cartwheels before busting her ass. No, she was usually just giggly and more open for conversation. In some way, drinking allows her social battery to become close to nonexistent for a time.Â
âLani!â She calls out as the other woman appears from the barâs entrance. Maya waves her over, patting the spot beside her, signaling for Leilani to sit. âAre you enjoying the festivities so far? I was just telling the bartender how you shouldâve signed up to perform.â She chuckles, âI was also talking about how Iâm still trying to convince you to get a tattoo with me.âÂ
It could be hard sometimes to carve out time for herself as an owner of a business, but Leilani always made it a point keep close with the people she loved and Maya was always an absolute gem to be around. A smile automatically appeared on her face as she heard the other woman call her name. âHey Maya!â She smiled, taking a seat at the bar. âIâm having so much fun. I probably spent way too much money trying to win at those games.â She laughed.
âYeah, well maybe next time.â She commented, though she didnât really perform in public anymore. She hasnât done so in years, choosing to focus on the career she chose and not the dream she let slip away. âOh God,â she dramatically sighed at the mention of tattoos. âNeedles in your skin? No thank you. Also what would we be getting? It would have to be something perfect for me to willingly go through such pain.â
