“Oh yeah, I heard about that. You’ve got a bunch of crazy flavors like green tea and even sake, right?” Ash would also take a bit of a chocolate egg, definitely enjoying the sweet taste. Ah chocolate, it was definitely a classic. “I’ve had green tea before, but can it really taste sweet?”

“yes! green tea is very common flavor in many things, not just kitkats. there is also green tea mochi, green tea pocky, even green tea hard candies. the key to green tea is using other ingredients to draw out its flavor.” he finishes the egg and drops the hand, a grin on his face. “you say you have had green tea before? what do you think?”

“…Usually always.” It was a lot of things to think about. His past, the blood that stained his hands and the fears he still had. It was just that simple hand on his shoulder, that his own hand affectionately rests over Eiji’s. “Sometimes it’s just my past playing like a loop, or I have to remember all the lives I’ve had to take just to stand here with you. To be honest, I probably haven’t slept peacefully since I was a really little kid.” 

It actually makes Ash laugh that he was complimented for his first time trying to speak Japanese, especially when it came from Eiji where he absolutely loved that smile on his face. “No, I know a few from stuff I’ve seen on TV. There’s…Tadaima, right? I’m not sure what it means, but I like it.”

“that word means ‘i’m home.’ hey, you could say when you get home! you could say it all the time.” he clasps his hands together and leans forward intently, a twinkle in his eyes. “i could teach you words you will use many times.”

today is one of those days where we think of how ash dies, and are sad.

“Sure.” Ash usually ate sweet regularly, he couldn’t really help himself for being young with a sweet tooth after all. “Alright, what do you wanna try first?” He says as he sits on the couch, actually smiling much like a child. “Do you have candy like this back in Japan?”

“some are like this. some are different.” he takes a bite out of the chocolate egg, and covers his mouth when he starts to speak again. “we have many different candies. most are not found here. there are some chocolates that are almost like the ones in japan, and we have more kitkats there than america. but many are different; i think we have different tastes.”

With such a happy and colorful holiday, Ash only had a few memories of when he was actually happy on a day like this. Yet today? Ash only feels happiness! Taking one of the Easter themed candies, he smiles to the other. “Thank you, Eiji. Happy Easter to you too. Hey, let’s share these? No way could I eat these all by myself.” 

a grin crosses his face and he takes one of the chocolate eggs. he typically tries not to eat too much candy (it’s not healthy), but today is a holiday, so he can make an exception.

“let’s go sit on couch. there are many candies here!”
