So first I wanna discuss where idea came from, it came to me after I watched But I’m a Cheerleader for the first time and I thought what if it was with the CO09 cast. So early on the idea I had was basically having the characters from the games replacing the ones in the film. In this stage of development Jecka was intended to be in the role of Megan due to me thinking that it was a perfect fit at the time. The. I changed the idea of True Directions being a therapy camp for teens dealing with mental health issues where Nicole became the protagonist of the story and that’s where the poster I made for my Class of ‘09 fan film came into play hence the title “But I’m a Sociopath”.

Things eventually changed to a simple character swap but they kept the same personalities as the film characters. I literally watched the movie and wrote the fanfic at the same time.

This explains why Nicole is more feminine in the story she’s just Megan from But I’m a Cheerleader with the name and appearance of Nicole from Class of ‘09. The only thing from the game Nicole that’s mentioned in But I’m a Sociopath is that her father killed himself.

Same goes with Jecka she’s just Graham but looks like and goes by Jecka. She is often called “Jessica” by the staff of the conversion therapy camp which annoys her.

Other characters also reflect their film counterparts. However due to the fact that Nicole has no father both Megan’s father’s and mother’s lines end up being said by Nicole’s mother. The only characters not from Class of ‘09 are Rock and Mike being from the film and the characters of Saboor and Jameel, characters from a web comic a friend of mine likes who is also going to help me with the Jeckole hospital fanfic I mentioned a while back. There’s also an original character who is Jecka’s step mom but she only has a few bits of dialogue which I were originally going to be given to Jecka’s dad but that was changed as I was writing the actual story.

Quick edit: it would also be really cool if some fan art based on this fanfic was made, I’d love to see cutesy innocent Nicole with the unapologetically butch Jecka
