          ‘      oh, no thank you. i don’t drink. i’m strictly a sprite or water kind of person. drinking, especially around strangers, isn’t really a good idea to me. people are CRAZY.      ’

          —— └ ғᴏʀ ʏᴇᴀʀs, sʜᴇ'ᴅ ᴄʀᴀᴠᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴛᴛᴇɴᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏғ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀs and here this beauty was taking all of their allure, all of their appeal, and they were SQUANDERING it. appearance-wise, everything about the other was something that fioria wanted and she couldn’t help the the bitter pangs of jealousy that started from her chest and spread through her limbs; sharp jabs against her skin like knives and reminders of her own underlying insecurities that she often pushed aside. comparisons killed, but she was only MORTAL.

      humming softly, she gave the other a gentle smile and tried to push her envy aside.      ‘      oh, you sweet thing. that’s so cute. you really have no idea, do you? hm, it’s ALWAYS the pretty ones that don’t get it.      ’      naturally beautiful people were the worst. fi couldn’t help the sarcastic comment that ran through her mind. it was only a fleeting though.      ‘     you’re very beautiful and people are attracted to that. when you don’t give them the time of day, that makes them want you even more. people covet what they cannot have, especially if it’s particularly appealing.      ’

“I guess, I just sort of have my eye on one guy, so I’m oblivious to everyone else.” They have self confidence, but social awareness? Nah; they keep their nose in books and on the scoreboard. That’s how they’ve always been, but there’s an itch to change. Zoé is the kind of person who doesn’t know who they are, they jump from place to place finding stuff. Beauty’s never been a big thing for them, yet now with Kai... It’s just different.

          —— └ ᴘᴜʟsᴀᴛɪɴɢ ʙᴀss ʀᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ ʜᴇʀ ʙᴏᴅʏ even from her stagnant position at the bar. looking disinterested took far more effort than most would assume. her pose was calculated, her subtle movements were planned, and the way that she purposefully ignored any advances made on her that night were purposeful. there was something comforting in being lost among various crowds; finally left alone for the night to observe those around her.

          when she was approached, fi’s initial reaction was confusion. her habit of getting lost in her own thoughts ( because weren’t those far more IMPORTANT than anything else ) was coming forth once more. not one to ask someone to repeat themselves, fioria tried to focus and fell to her default: smiling as if she was paying attention.

          ‘       save you? that’s what you’re asking, right?      ’     

          if she was wrong, it was a stupid thing to ask, but she didn’t mind playing a role if that’s what it meant.      ‘      i’m not really the best at KEEPING people away from me, i’ll warn you. i am kind of more the type to like attention and do things to keep getting it. hard to get always gets them.      ’

“. . .Save me, yes please.” 

The words come too easily, but few things matter to Zoé in this moment. They simply wanted peace, and while they could go home, they didn’t want to be alone. Atty’s out on tour, Kai’s probably at another club, and all other friends are doing their own things tonight. So to strangers for help they go, and goddamn if they aren’t desperate.

Maggie studies herself in the elevator mirror as it climbs the floors to Atticus’ apartment. After he had paid her a spontaneous visit the other day, she figured it was her turn to return the favour. Though thinking about him still brought a dull ache to her chest, she couldn’t deny how happy she was just to be friends with him. Hands full of freshly baked muffins, she stands at his door, hesitating for only a second for rapping out a series of knocks. “Atty! Guess whoooo!” She calls out, a smile on her face just at the thought of seeing her friend. “I have muffins…”

Atty was unfortunately out at a sound check for a gig, so Zoé manned the apartment and was in the middle of cleaning the microwave when the knocks came. It was easy to tell who was at the door, they knew Maggie’s voice well. So they put down the rag and shuffled to the door, opening it a crack. “Hey... Um, Atty’s not here right now? But you can still hang if you want! And the muffins will be appreciated greatly. Wanna come in?”
