over the course of growing closer to carmine, moon has always been plagued by confusion and doubts. just why would someone like carmine; so gentle, so perfect, care so deeply about someone like him? someone so horrible, so disgusting, a moon…
moon has never been one to care about what anyone thinks of him, or seek out comfort from those that are not their family. yet, with carmine it’s different. at first there was hesitance but now moon wants carmine to see every part of him. they can’t help but crave his love.
craving carmines words of affirmation that blinks out any doubt moon would have of his worth. craving carmines assuring touch as he holds them through the nights he’s haunted by the past. craving to love carmine as much as he loves them.
even as much as he doesn’t understand the root of it…in the end what matters most is how carmine has filled the missing piece of their heart, one he did not know was missing.
it’s easier to love others than it is to love yourself. carmine knows this best.
that’s why he loves moon. carmine can give all the love in the world he has to them. carmine encourages moon to be open, hoping he can save him from the dark void he cages themselves in. carmine craves to understand them because he wants nothing more than to kiss every “broken” part of moon (carmine hates it when moon uses that word).
it’s funny because carmine would never be able to do the same for himself, and nothing scares him more than moon knowing that.
would moon still like him if he knew just how truly vile he is? if they found out about the past that haunts him every night, if moon knew about…him. carmine can’t bear the thought. he wants it all to stay behind him, to grow this new love between him and moon. he’s different, he’s better now. why would the past matter?
if only moon knew how much carmine craves the same love from them, but he’s less deserving of that. he’s ruined. how could someone as wonderful and as spectacular as moon, love someone like him? so vile, so ruined..a moon.
