AGE — 16
SEXUALITY — Bisexual
RELATIONSHIP STATUS — Single
♣ POSITION: Senior at the school on base
✘ — Layla is currently a senior at the army school, two years ahead of where she should be. She was moved up the grades in middle school. She'd rather be in school off base, but with who her father is, that isn't possible.
♣ ABOUT
‣ Layla was born and raised on the base in Dallas Texas. The daughter of the general, she has an image of a perfect girl, in a perfect family, but that is probably pretty far from the truth.
‣ She's desperate to escape military life, wanting to stop pretending to be someone she's not and live the way she wants. Even if maybe she doesn't have the wisdom to know what's actually good for her or safe just yet.
‣ She has an Eidetic memory and was moved two grades up in middle school. Having never met her mother, she's incredibly close to her dad and behind closed doors, they're a very different family to what people expect. There's more to the General than stern orders and a sour face.
‣ She is not aware that her biological mother lives on base, or even who she is.
♣ BIOGRAPHY
‣ Layla has known nothing but the army way her entire life. With a dad ranked so high, image was everything. You had to be a role model, you had to be good, you had to be kind, you had to be clever. You had to be better without thinking you were. With endless dinners, functions, charity events and dances, being the generals daughter was a way of life...it was a character she'd perfected even down to the way she styled her hair. But that's all it was, a character, a role she and her entire family had to play, because image was everything and in the army, flaws were not an option. She'd always been smart, smarter than most people her age. She had perfect recall, an Eidetic memory, but being a few years ahead of where she was supposed to be helped to keep her occupied. She's spent her entire life on a base, sure she's been off it, but her daily life was all things army and she has longed to just try living something different. Going to school off base has been something she's wanted for a while, but with who her father is, it's just not an option. The general can't be seen to be sending his child to school somewhere else, that would be saying something about the school he's providing for everyone else, that it's not good enough.
Growing up in her family as always been charmed, despite the image he projects to the rest of the world, her dad is pretty laid back. At least she thinks so. She knows when not to cross the line with him, and he knows she'd never jeopardise his position within the army. They have an understanding and despite his stern exterior, he's a brilliant dad and even though he doesn't always make it home for dinner, he's there to watch cartoons with, to order pizza late at night and veg out on the couch. He's there for the stuff that counts and she doesn't harbour any resentment towards him, although admitting that would be pretty uncool.
Her mother was a whole other story, she's never met her. She's known Sarah all her life and although the woman has raised her and they love each other, Sarah always felt more like a best friend than a mother. She knows everyone assumes Sarah is her mom, and correcting them would ruin their image of a perfect army family. But the truth is, she has no idea who her mom is. Her dad doesn't talk about it that much, there isn't really anything to say. Her mom didn't want her, her dad did...and she's always been too scared to know anymore than that. Although she projects this perfect image, in reality she's far from that. Maybe it's the issues with her mom, maybe it's being stifled on base. But if Layla can find a party, she'll go, if she can flirt, she'll flirt. But the next day she'll pretend it never happened, she'll go back to being the perfect General's daughter, who will sit at a mother/daughter luncheon and pretend she hasn't got a raging hangover. She knows how to cover her tracks, she knows when to behave properly and when she can let her hair down. If someone is lucky enough to have her trust and see the real side of her, she'll be a friend for life. Nobody believes in loyalty the way Layla does.
She's known Julian her entire life, her best friend and confidant, they hang out almost every day and if they don't? They'll have at least communicated in some way. She knows him inside out and he knows her too, something that's rare for the two of them. The fact he ended up being Sarah's kid was just a plus, it meant her dad was less likely to freak out and make them run laps if he found him in her room. Nothing has ever happened between them and Layla doesn't know if it ever will, or if she wants it to...despite the fact he's ridiculously hot and one guy she isn't sure she could actually have...which is new. But the idea of losing his friendship is something she'd never even consider, some things weren't worth fucking up over sex...not a lot of things...but some.
