They chose each other in an inevitable and resolute way. All the pain, the anxiety and dread they had shared for centuries were going to keep baring weight on their shoulders no matter what. They chose each other and they chose what they loved most: humans.

And it is them, at the end, but without the pain. Seeing Crowley being free of that radical and deep pain he always carried with him made me unbelievably happy, it healed something in my broken heart. They chose each other in every universe but most importantly they chose each other in the feeble way of the humans. Experiencing what they always craved and never could have, how beautiful is that? And being aware of the full of love they feel for each other. Is it not what we all should strive for? Love and be loved to such an extent that everything is there, the stars and your Aziraphale.

This story was always about humans, about death and how time is eternal and painfully fast at the same time. They spent millennials knowing each other but that does not mean anything because what really matters are the 20and maybe 30, 40 years if they are super lucky? years they truly shared. Why have eternity if you can't enjoy it, can't be happy, kept apart and broken just because. To choose a limited amount of time and be able to experience that to the fullest is what makes life worth living.
