we moved 🎉 everything is okay. I'm hella broke but still going at the very least.

I got offered a new job and im seriously considering it but it would mean long distance jobs with no time to myself.

im in a new doctors which means restarting treatment & just hoping the doctors listen to me at this surgery. I still need my chronic illness testing & sorting as thats still kinda ruining my life at the moment.

Still... either way, she smiles. It's a crooked yet warm smile that could only belong to her - and she thinks it's not just because of what was said to her, but the person who said it, too.

If it had been anyone else to suggest it, maybe it wouldn't have had the same impact, but Ema knows Phoenix. She knows the sincerity of his nature, but also the fierceness with which he'll fight for the sake of those he cares about - he's fought for her too, after all. She'll always be grateful for what he's done for her. That's why she wants him to know that, too.

"But the same goes for you, you hear?" And - with not quite a pout, but something close, she pokes a finger in his direction, emphasizing the point as best she can. "Don't think that you can get away with taking everything on alone... I'm here to help, you know?"

She's not a child anymore. At the very least, she wants to do whatever she can.

"Neither of us are done just yet."

it's classic ema. while they had been out of touch for years, and only then communicating through apollo when she returned home to pursue her dreams, they've always been friends, and ema had always taken care of those she deemed close to.

but phoenix isn't the rundown ex attorney anymore. he's regrown into who he was always meant to be and more, becoming a father and mentor helped with that change more than he'd like to admit to but it's a part of him he never wants to change. which means, unfortunately for ema, when she threatens him to come talk to her more whenever he's struggling, he chuckles.

not quite waving it off, but the likelihood of him actually taking her up on that is pretty minor unless it's work related.

it took maya and edgeworth years of persisting to get through to him to accept help from them after all.

his laughter isn't unkind. It never really is. deep down he just knows that relying on others isn't his strong point but he'll be damned to let anything happen to ema. she deserved the best after everything she went through.

" yeah, yeah, I know. I don't think I'll be isolating myself again any time soon so don't worry. " they both know that's not what she meant but before he could say anything, he ruffles her hair in a way not too dissimilar he does with trucy when he's trying to distract her.
