Another day, another salacious story about STDs. But — silver lining — it’s also another chance to talk about STDs using FACTS and COMPASSION. Imagine that!

Okay, so. According to an excerpt from a behind-the-scenes book about The Bachelor, the main reason contestants are rejected from America’s #1 super-prestigious matchmaking franchise is because they test positive for an STD. Specifically…herpes (*DUN DUN DUNNNNN*).

Sigh.

Of course, this li’l tidbit is whipping its way around the web because it appeals to our culture’s totally unhealthy obsession with stigmatizing sex and STDs, and various Internet Persons are acting like it’s a completely wild and scandalous revelation. But it really shouldn’t be…because a metric f*kton of people have herpes.

The fact that an overwhelming number of Bachelor hopefuls test positive for herpes should be the least surprising news ever. It’s an incredibly common skin condition! According to the WHO an estimated 67% of people under 50 worldwide have HSV-1, the virus that usually causes oral herpes (aka cold sores) but can also infect genitals. And the CDC estimates that more than 24 million people in the US are living with HSV-2, the virus that usually causes genital herpes. For comparison, that’s more than 4 times the number of people who watched the season premier of The Bachelor (5.45 million people). So it’s almost like genital herpes is way more popular than reality TV. Hey man, that’s just math.

It also makes perfect sense that a lot of Bachelor contestants apparently didn’t realize they had herpes — most people who have herpes don’t know it. Many don’t get or notice sores or any other symptoms. And according to the CDC, around 87% of people with HSV-2 haven’t been diagnosed by a doctor.

It’s pretty bananas that a few herpes diagnoses in the production of a reality TV show can make headline news when the majority of the world’s population is living with oral or genital herpes. It’s just a skin condition, but then again, our culture has an unfortunate habit of stigmatizing certain relatively harmless infections just because you can get them from sex.

The reality is, herpes happens. A lot. Anybody who’s ever been smooched or had any kind of sexual contact can get herpes — that’s almost all y’all. And honestly? It’s usually not that big a deal. Really, it isn’t. While the virus technically stays in your body for life, herpes isn’t deadly, it rarely causes serious health problems, and it’s totally treatable. Many people with herpes never get sores, and others only have one or a couple outbreaks over the course of their lifetimes. People who do get outbreaks more frequently can manage them with medicine. And medicine can help prevent someone from giving herpes to their partners. People with herpes can have sex, be in relationships, and live totally normal lives. In fact, most say the worst part of having herpes is dealing with other people’s judgment and misconceptions. (And, I guess, not getting to be on The Bachelor.)

Shame and stigma aren’t effective prevention methods. They’re actively harmful to people already living with STDs. And they actually make it harder for people to get tested, insist on using protection, and talk honestly with their partners — you know, the things that will actually help prevent infections. So the next time you hear someone getting all frothed up about STDs, or using herpes as a totally clever and original punchline, consider joining the Team Public Health Anti-Stigma Task Force (not the most catchy name but we wear capes!). Let them know the real facts about herpes: billions of people have it (including ones you probably know and love), it’s not the end of the world, and making cruel jokes about people with herpes is super uncool.

ive posted about this before, but i saw a post by @stopthebig3 basically pointing out the flaws within every ship that contains sasuke, and it really got me thinking about things that i have previously stated before.

i genuinely think the fetishization of sasuke is gross. a lot of naruto shippers in general are self-inserts. they WANT sasuke to be this emotionally unstable dictator who treats naruto like a slave. ive seen artists strip naruto of all masculinity, making him child like with huge eyes and wearing thongs, while sasuke is this giant figure spooning him and treating him like his pet.

this begs the question, where did any of this come from? as someone who’s only watched the anime and read a few chapters of the manga, where did people think that sasuke was some alpha male? sasuke was an emotionally drained character who wanted to revolutionize konoha from the shadows. he always displayed a calm and collected front. where did you all get the idea that he’s some power hungry monster? from filler?

and don’t get me started on the infantilization of naruto just so people can further these self-insertion fantasies they have about sasuke. naruto and sasuke are literally an inch apart. naruto is just as “manly” as sasuke. why do fics and artists keep making him look and act like a child when portraying him in sexual situations?

all of this stems from the naruto “shippers” incorrect characterization and fetishization of sasuke. if you watch the show and analyze it, you’d know he’s not a power hungry man looking to control everyone and everything. hate isnt his only emotion.

Also people created “sns” but I think it’s fake for the most part. Most of them bash ns all the time and ignore all the faults and cringe in sn and even claim it was left in 2005 (lol biggest lie ever told). Then they go happily reblog macho Sasuke and infant Naruto.

So GameStop, as you can probably imagine, is a company that was widely considered to be on the verge of failing due to being a brick and mortar gaming retailer in the age of covid and downloadable games. Due to this, big Wall Street hedge funds bet on its stock price continuing to drop by doing what is called ‘shorting’ a stock.

In simple terms, shorting a stock is when somebody ‘borrows’ a stock off somebody else and then immediately sells the stock. Eventually in the future they will need to buy the stock back to ‘return’ the one they borrowed. If the stock price drops, they make a profit (as they sold it for more then they bought it back for). However, there is one major catch. If the price rises, they’ll be forced to buy jt back at a higher price, and since stocks can essentially go up to infinity, they can go into ENORMOUS debt.

This is where /r/Wallstreetbets came in. People looked at this, and noticed that A) the stock was being ludicrously shorted (there were more shares ‘borrowed’ then even existed) and B) That due to the companies financials and things like the console cycle the company actually stands a chance at not going under. So a whole bunch of people thought it was a great idea to buy in and try to trigger a ‘short squeeze’.

A short squeeze is when the stock price skyrockets to the extent where the people who shorted the stock are going into massive debt. At some point they’re forced to cut their losses, so they buy back the stock they borrowed. But here’s the catch: since so many people have shorted the stock, there isn’t enough supply for the people to buy their stocks back. This means the people who actually own the stock can charge ABSURD prices for their shares because the shorts have literally no choice but to buy at those prices.

Additionally in these last few months, there’s been a bunch of unrelated good news stories which made people more optimistic about GameStop’s future, which served as the catalyst that began this squeeze in the first place. Eventually the hype hit a fever pitch on WSB, causing more and more people to buy in, forcing the price higher and higher. We’re now at the point where hedge funds are losing BILLIONS of dollars and average everyday people who bought in early are making life changing money from this play. One user (/u/Deepfuckingvalue) is currently at 48 million dollars off of an initial $53000 investment

Edit: also, this has triggered a whole bunch of other attempted squeezes on other heavily shorted stocks such as AMC, Bed Bath and Beyond and Naked cosmetics (among others) as people look to make more money and/or hurt the hedge funds

Edit 2: The people who borrowed the stocks have to pay a large interest fee on the stocks they borrowed, and that fee has gotten to be extremely expensive. So waiting for the stock to drop will continue to hurt them financially as well

Even though it reads as a 4chan cesspool, r/wallstreetbets has followed in the footsteps of OccupyWallstreet and has become a very effective movement in challenging the establishment, capitalism, and corporations. This is the first time in history the people are successfully waging war against the establishment through the stock market, and these efforts have extended globally.

Now trading apps, such as RobinHood, have prevented the people from buying GME stocks. They can only sell. RobinHood is managed by a hedge fund and so of course it's rich fuckers manipulating the market to protect their interests. This is INCREDIBLY illegal and political figures such as AOC have called them out on it (even Ted Cruz agreed with AOC). But that has oy made the movement stronger. Since the U.S. has attempted to suppress retail investors (you and I), people from other countries have en masses stepped in. This has gone beyond just making a buck.

I encourage you all to download a trading app that allows for fractional trading (so you can put in like $10 and buy 0.003 of a share and don't have to fork over $360 to buy one full share) and buy GME. Put in whatever you can afford. You can't lose more than you put in. Hold, don't sell. You'll thank me later if you end up making $5,000 off of your $10 you forked over. Buy shares when stocks dip. This restriction won't last forever.

Rate and review the Robinhood app one star and leave a comment about what they are doing is market manipulation and exploiting the people to benefit the wealthy.

Leave a complaint with the SEC.

god anon I think about them a lot... since this is mostly a sns blog, and they are the main characters, most of things will involve them and their relationship, but I’m also gonna include some stuff about other characters. I’m warning y’all that this is gonna be long

the first one is very obvious lol: Neji doesn’t die. Hinata dying for him would be so much more impactful and meaningful and I don’t care about her character so yeah she could die, but if y’all think I’m being too mean, Hiashi can die in her place since he’s a piece of shit. the point is: Neji is alive, he shows that he can control his destiny, and he’s the one who change the Hyuuga clan, abolish the disgusting seals and everything else we’d love to see

I absolutely love sns being soulmates bc they gay, but the reincarnation stuff? nah. I don’t know how exactly I’d make them soulmates without being reincarnations of some ancient dudes but that’s pretty possible. and the thing with the sage powers? just during war to defeat Madara (who is the final villain bc wtf is Kaguya) and release the Tsukuyomi, then they don’t have them anymore

Naruto x Sasuke and chapter 698 stay the same lol obviously

Sasuke doesn’t leave immediately, knowing Konoha, they wouldn’t just let him leave without a trial or something, I also don’t think the trial would happen right after the war, because there’d be a lot going on and a lot to take care of before that

this would kinda piss Naruto off because Sasuke is just as a war hero as himself and he knows Sasuke still has problems with Konoha but Naruto takes that as an opportunity because he can properly search for Danzo’s documents that prove how he, the elders and the third orchestrated the Uchiha massacre, which would clear Itachi’s name and favour Sasuke during his trial. he’s not thinking about the system itself right here, not yet, I just feel like he would do anything to make things easier to Sasuke

also they both need therapy, Tsunade probably suggests it to Naruto, who can convince Sasuke to go too. I think therapy is something so crucial for them and it’s not something they could have if they left Konoha immediately. I’m not gonna go into the subject of what they need to work in therapy bc well there’s a lot of stuff, but at least the most urgent things like Sasuke’s ptsd, Naruto’s lack of empathy with himself when it comes to please other people etc etc etc

they end up living together, obviously, since a lot of people don’t trust Sasuke and of course Naruto wouldn’t let him live in the same house his parents were killed. I don’t know wether it would be a house or an apartment, maybe a house in the outskirts of town because of Sasuke and privacy etc etc

Sasuke is very aware of his feelings for Naruto, but he would never confess without knowing Naruto felt the same way, he’s not that kind of person, and it’s one thing to admit he lost at Vote2 and accept that loving isn’t a weakness, it’s another thing to act like it. Sasuke’s feelings for Naruto probably frighten him a little bit and he probably thinks Naruto would have too much power over him if he knew the true extension of his feelings

I do believe Naruto loves Sasuke romantically too, but, unlike Sasuke, he doesn’t know that. he probably starts to realise it after Vote2. it would take Naruto to realise Sasuke is more than his friend, that he likes guys (or only Sasuke idk) and come to terms with his feelings. also, Konoha might not be very welcoming with gay couples, which would make Naruto feel insecure because he fears a lot being hated again, but this is Naruto we’re talking about and if this is how he feels about Sasuke, he wouldn’t let anything come between them. it’s more a matter of acceptance and learning to ignore what people think about him (something he could work with a therapist btw)

(I know Vote2 is a whole love confession, but we need a very explicit one, one that Naruto is aware of how he feels about Sasuke)

so they are living together and dealing with their feelings for each other and their own conflicts and healing a bit but never confessing... Sasuke bc he’s not the kind of person to make the first move in a relationship and Naruto bc he’s still figuring everything out so idiots in love right? peak stupidity, lots of pining and everything we love to see like idk Naruto makes Sasuke laugh one time and it’s the most endearing thing ever he can’t stop staring at him and his heart beats so fast he thinks his ribcage may not be strong enough to keep it or maybe Naruto walking around shirtless and Sasuke. is. not. going. to. look. but damn the dobe is attractive... no wait he’s not staring and stuff like that

they both have nightmares, especially Sasuke, but they don’t know that about each other until one night when Sasuke has a very bad one and wakes up screaming and it was so bad that it wakes Naruto up, probably bc he felt the disturbance in Sasuke’s chakra (they feel each other’s chakra after all) and a very worried blond just bursts through Sasuke’s door. when he sees that Sasuke is okay (not being attacked or anything) he says something like “sorry, I was just checking if you were alright” and there’s the awkward silence and all. Naruto turns around to leave but he hears his name, barely audible, so low he thought he was imagining it. he knows it wasn’t his imagination because Sasuke is staring at him before he looks away to his own hands and says very hesitantly “will you... stay with me a little bit?” and Naruto is very surprised and kinda anxious bc he’s pining over his best friend but he says “yeah... sure” and lies down with Sasuke, trying not to touch him except maybe for a hand on his shoulder where he releases his chakra and that immediately calms Sasuke down, like... Naruto’s presence is soothing, that’s why Sasuke asked him to stay, but they discover that Naruto’s chakra is much more effective. when Naruto is 100% sure Sasuke is asleep he whispers “always” and falls asleep right there

they never sleep on separate beds after that. they use the nightmares as an excuse at the beginning, especially Naruto, but it’s just so comforting and they always end up unconsciously touching each other in their sleep like hands, arms, legs, feet idk... I just feel like they gravitate towards each other. there’s also the fact that Naruto is a cuddler but they never talk about that when it happens

this has nothing to do with feelings or healing but... Naruto learns Uzumaki techniques bc UZUMAKI RIGHTS!!!! I mean... he’s the mc and Kishi didn’t bother to talk about his own clan? not on my watch

also Naruto bonds with Karin??? never understood why Kishi didn’t even make them interact... she’s the only relative he has, you know... the boy who spent his whole life trying to connect with people? doesn’t make any sense that they didn’t even talk. let them bond bc, again, UZUMAKI RIGHTS

tbh let Naruto interact with Taka as a whole bc I feel like they could connect well enough, like he and Suigetsu are obnoxious and Karin is his cousin and he’d probably think Juugo’s cool and chill with all the birds and other animals stuff (and let Sasuke bond with Taka cause he never did as well)

oh, speaking of Taka... Orochimaru??? JAIL, I don’t have to explain myself on this one

since I’ve mentioned Uzumaki rights, it’s just one thing I’d love to see and then I made a whole hc over that. someone, idk probably Kakashi, knows where to find stuff that belonged to Naruto’s parents? like maybe Minato’s cloak and a recipe book, things like that... it would also include a photo album. so Naruto’s there looking at the pictures and he talks to Sasuke about when he met his mom and “Sasuke, she had this pretty red hair and she was so badass and so beautiful, let me show you” so now Naruto’s is showing him the pictures and then Sasuke freezes because Mikoto is right there in one of them... with Kushina, and Naruto notices and asks what’s wrong but lol it’s not that difficult to see since Sasuke looks exactly like his mom, he just looks at the picture and understands why Sasuke froze. but he’s so excited now bc their moms were friends!!!! and even though Sasuke’s first reaction was to feel his chest tight (bc it hurts and probably always will), he’s also glad to know that new information and that he has another thing to share with Naruto. they end up framing the picture in a special place in the living room after

another thing I need to see them discussing is Kage Summit please. I also made a hc over this k. winter comes (there’s winter in Konoha bc I want to) and the first day it snows Naruto is tense because we know what happened the last time he saw snow and that brings memories and anxiety is a bitch. of course Sasuke notices the change in the atmosphere and he tries to talk to Naruto, who reluctantly tells him what happened. I don’t have anything specific in my mind of what could come from this conversation but I’d love to see it happening and it’s an opportunity for them to talk about their feelings a little bit and Sasuke would probably be screaming internally bc “that’s not how you act with friends!!!!!” but the stoic look on his face wouldn’t give him in

now, speaking of the love confession... remember when I said Naruto is looking for documents about the massacre? very classified mission. Kakashi and Yamato know (they were there when Obito told them the story), Naruto tells Tsunade (I’d rather keep her as hokage tbh) and probably Sai? Naruto can’t go to those missions alone and Sai is trustworthy and was very close to Danzo so... maybe add another member from the Konoha 12 idk, how about Neji bc he is very skilled and didn’t fucking die. the thing is: Naruto didn’t want to worry Sasuke, or see him carrying another burden, so Sasuke doesn’t know about that, he doesn’t know why Naruto is going to missions, he can’t go to missions until his trial

but Sasuke finds out... by accident I guess? he finds one of Naruto’s reports one day, maybe he accidentaly reads it after dropping it while Naruto is in the shower or whatever and now he is shaking and feeling a lot of emotions at the same time... grief, bc it’s always there, and anger but also a little bit of hope and relief?

he obviously confronts Naruto about it, he is angry at him for not telling about the missions and they end up discussing about sensitive subjects aka feelings. Sasuke once again asks why Naruto cares so much about him and his burdens and he is very frustrated bc he doesn’t want to be reminded of his “Naruto’s friend” position dammit, but Naruto, who is also frustrated and very involved with the discussion and can’t control what comes out of his mouth sometimes, just screams “BECAUSE I LOVE YOU” and then we have two very shocked idiots. Sasuke would probably activate his sharingan without noticing when Naruto says that

well, he can’t take it back now right? so Naruto just confesses that he is in love with Sasuke and before he starts rambling (bc he rambles when he gets nervous), Sasuke, who is still stunned bc is this really happening????, interrupts him and says he feels the same way. they keep staring at each other really overwhelmed and Naruto just comes closer, puts his hand on Sasuke’s cheek, stroking his thumb on his skin and Sasuke doesn’t flinch, he just closes his eyes, covers Naruto’s hand with his own for a moment and then moves it to the nape of Naruto’s neck. Naruto notices how their foreheads are touching, then their noses and fucking finally he leans in to make their lips touch too. they don’t know how long the kiss lasts but when they separate from it, they’re both crying but also smiling

things get a little bit easier after that, they still have a lot to sort out and being together doesn’t magically solve everything, of course they still have issues, but at least all the pining and frustrations are over and they don’t have to feel like they’re walking on eggshells bc they’re too afraid to comfort the other the way they want to or to talk about their feelings with honesty, but yeah they’re together now, with affectionate gestures (well mostly Naruto) and everything else

also Sasuke stretches how he doesn’t want Naruto to keep things from him, how they are supposed to share their burdens, which leads to the next topic

since I’ve mentioned talking about feelings with honesty, let’s get to something that I think it would be crucial. chapter 698 is about Sasuke accepting that he doesn’t need to be alone, that love might not be a weakness, that he can share his burdens with Naruto. but they are yin and yang, therefore they balance each other. I want to see Naruto sharing his burdens with Sasuke. Naruto shows the light to Sasuke, so it’s only fair that Sasuke shows him the darkness. what do I mean by that? enough with bottling up your feelings Naruto my love, let’s deal with all your shit. I want Sasuke pointing out how badly the village treated Naruto, that his dream of becoming hokage it’s actually a reflection of his own trauma and need of recognition, that he wants to give everyone a chance because nobody gave him one, that he needed to almost die for everybody to be acknowledged and that it’s okay to feel bitter or angry about that and it’s okay to acknowledge how unfairly he was treated, that he shouldn’t bottle everything up for being afraid of being hated again, or for believing that heroes need to act like that. I think Sasuke is the only one who could do this, because only Sasuke truly understands Naruto

Naruto would probably have a panic attack when he thinks about everything involving his childhood and the village and himself, it’s just a lot to process and we saw that he probably suffers from anxiety so... but Sasuke is there now, they share their burdens after all

we know Naruto had his doubts about the shinobi system, but Kishimoto just decided to make him optmistic and naive and not solve anything, that’s one of the most frustrating aspects of the ending. this wouldn’t happen... after Sasuke and therapy make him confront all of the stuff he’s been bottling up for ages, he ponders not only what happened to him or Sasuke, but to other people as well, like Neji, Sai, Kakashi, Gaara and he thinks of how great it would be if all of their suffering could be spared... Naruto always wants to help people, so if helping means changing what’s wrong, why wouldn’t he be willing to do it?

also, I don’t think neither Sasuke or Naruto know how to fix the system (tbh no one knows). if they really want to do that, they would have to study and, more importantly, see things for themselves. since Sasuke (and therapy) made Naruto confront his traumas, Naruto starts to feel kinda suffocated in Konoha (some anxiety symptoms maybe), he still considers Konoha home, because it’s the only place he could call it that, but he’s not feeling the same way about it anymore. that’s when one of them comes with the idea of travelling through the world after Sasuke’s trial

I feel like Sasuke would feel a bit overwhelmed when receiving love and affection at the beginning, especially from Naruto, who must be a very passionate person. idk, it just seems that he’d feel it’s too good to be true. since he spent most of his life in pain, feeling this comfort and easiness with Naruto could cause that. but again, Naruto is there to show him the bright side and to bare his burdens

okay let’s focus on the problems with the shinobi world again: Naruto finds the documents, the trial comes and, since this is a fix it, Sasuke is innocent! oh my who would’ve thought? besides the solid proof of what happened to the Uchiha, of course Naruto is there to witness in Sasuke’s favour. Sasuke’s pardoned and Itachi’s name is cleared

Danzo, the elders and Hiruzen are blamed for their crimes against humanity thank you very much. I can’t think of a proper punishment for the elders cause law isn’t my thing but well whatever you guys want

one of the consequences of the trial is acknowledging how Konoha is not only full of bigotry and injustice but also how the government is partly responsible for that. this would be more difficult but point out how Tobirama also has a fault on that?

explode the hokage’s monument <3 Tobirama and Hiruzen are there and they’re not heroes... the monument keeps ties to a failed system

after the trial, Sai and Yamato work together to dismantle Root and anything related to Danzo (and the other council members), his networks, followers etc

I know changing things takes time, so it’s not like everything will be fixed overnight, but they could start working on a new political system that a) doesn’t depend on war and b) is more democratic. so like thinking of a new way to choose the kage and maybe build a more inclusive council, with the heads of the clans and civilians and other important figures idk

create an orphanage of course, especially after the war, and give support to the orphans. maybe Iruka could be head of the orphanage... let’s go dad!!!!

all the work they’re doing to make Konoha a better place? well yeah Gaara is doing the same in Suna, discovering all the dirty stuff and everything else. since he’s the closest kage to Naruto, Suna would probably be the first village to do that, and that can be discussed with the other kages as well so they’d work on the same thing in their respective villages

you may have noticed that there’s not a single mention of Sakura right? yeah. the thing is: she’s so bad that I don’t know how to start fixing her... she’s still obsessed with Sasuke at the end, so he would probably have to reject her again and again, and her selfishness, shallowness, ungratefulness are still there as well. Sakura would probably take years to become a different, likeable person to me. I also don’t think she would take well Sasuke and Naruto being together, tbh I think she’s even showed to be homophobic? so yeah, I don’t know how to fix her and she’s not important enough to put an effort for

Sasuke and Naruto leave the village together <3 as I said before, they need to see things for themselves, learn from experience and it would also be cool to help people along the way

one more thing: Sasuke and Naruto look for different uses of ninjutsu, wether being in Konoha or travelling together. hear me out: I’ve read some dumb “fix-it” hcs in this site, stuff like “Sasuke creates his own village” “Sasuke leaves and travels with Taka” etc. why are they dumb? because they don’t fix anything. the system stays the same. if people really want to change how things ended, characters have to deal with the problems presented. even if you change the whole system to avoid having child soldiers and corruption and everything else... if ninjutsu keeps being used only for combat, then I don’t know how things can be any different. we already know that it can be used in the medical field... what else? what can they do with fuinjutsu and genjutsu as well? well I might have some hcs but i’m not that creative, so if someone out there has some ideas involving different uses of ninjutsu and wants to share, I’d love to read them. plus, taijutsu being teached like martial arts? cool (what can I say I do judo lol)

and just because I said they would look for different uses of ninjutsu, it doesn’t mean that using ninjutsu for fighting would have to be abolished. I know the world isn’t perfect and there would still be bad people, so it’s not that it shouldn’t exist, it’s just that it shouldn’t be the only thing it’s used for. maybe they could build a new police force, a proper one, without the prejudices the former one was built on
