Save this before your next art purchase. 24 years of experience in 7 rules.
Rule 1: Eye level is not a suggestion. The centre of your artwork should sit at 145–150cm from the floor. Always.
Rule 2: One large piece beats three small ones. Always. Small art on a large wall whispers when it should speak.
Rule 3: Leave breathing space. Art needs a wall around it the way a diamond needs a setting.
Rule 4: Light your art deliberately. A piece without proper lighting is a piece nobody truly sees.
Rule 5: Don't match — contrast. Art that blends into a room disappears. Art that contrasts transforms it.
Rule 6: Scale to the furniture below, not the wall behind. A painting above a sofa should be 2/3 the width of the sofa.
Rule 7: Buy the piece that stops you. Not the one that fits. The one that makes you stand still.
Save this. Your walls will thank you.❤️❤️
