Grant Yun, Illustrations.
Wonderfully stylistic paintings by Wisconsin-based artist Grant Yun.
Grant says of his work:Â âHaving lived several years in the Midwest as a young adult I was captivated by what Midwestern America had to offer. Most of my early life, I grew up in California with drastically changing landscapes that carved throughout the entire state. Moving to Wisconsin at the age of 18, I found a new source of inspiration. The emptiness, the flatness, the peace, the tranquility of the landscape I was placed into was a combination artistic inspiration and fear of the unknown. Having moved away from Midwestern America to Connecticut in 2019, I wanted to create this series that reconnected me to the part of the world that helped me grow as an artist and person. These series of illustrations portray a romanticized America. A simple yet beautiful representation of what it means to live in the Midwest. I hope my project is able to invigorate emotions and feelings of all who view this work.â

Crocheted Leaf Sculptures by Susanna Bauer
To truly appreciate the delicacy of Susanna Bauerâs leaf sculptures, think of crunching a dead leaf in your hand, how it disintegrates into dust with the slightest effort. To work with dry and fragile leaves as a medium for crochet seems nearly impossible, but Susanna somehow manages it with ease, turning leaves into cubes, tunnels, and geometric patterns with techniques that might be more appropriate for the durability of leatherwork. She lives and works in Cornwall, England. You can see more on her website and Facebook.Â

Surreal Art by Erika Lizee
Erika Lizee is a versatile artist from Chicago, Illinois. She earned her BFA in Painting from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and her MFA in Painting from California State University, Northridge
Through my artwork I seek to express the conflicting feelings of wonder and uncertainty that I experience when contemplating the fluid and impermanent nature of reality.Â
Conceptually, my inquiry spans from the morphing of human understanding from what is unknown to known, to the creative process of manifesting our thoughts from the intangible to the tangible, to the existential questions of our relationship to both the invisible and visible realms.Â
In my installations, I utilizing illusionistic painting where surfaces of the gallery walls become real and metaphorical dividing lines between the realms of things that do not physically exist, and those that do.Â
Mysterious and abstract elements appear beyond the surface of the wall, while others emerge from this space into the physical realm of the viewer.Â

The Creative Process of Android Jones
Android Jones creates deliciously detailed digital art. Â His career highlights include working for George Lucasâ famous company ILM and working for Nintendo. Android currently works as an independent artist. Creating his detailed and intense art is difficult. Â In an interview with Witness This Android Jones describes his creative process:
At the onset of an image, Iâve been known to consciously lash out a flurried cacophony of lines, shapes, and patterns. My initial choices of tools and brushes and patterns are often haphazardly chosen, frantically switching between brushes faster than my conscious mind has the ability to comprehend any semblance of meaning. My only instinct is to create a combination of shapes, colors, and patterns that defy any semblance of reason in the hope of uncovering a combination with some sense of novelty to it.
This reckless dance of pixels becomes like a meditation and itâs the one aspect of the creative process where I feel truly free. Sometimes it goes on for minutes or hours. The challenge during this part of the process is intentionally avoiding any objective or representational results, but eventually my eye catches something unusual or interesting.
As soon as this happens, my mind lapses from itâs meditation when it finds an aspect of the painting valuable or precious and the next stage, the fight revolves around protecting and exploring this new focal point of the image. See our previous post on Android Jones. (via)

Russian Artist Elena Limkina Reveals Her Mysterious Sketchbook To The World, And Itâs Full Of Visual Secrets.
If youâve got an old soul, youâll be enamored by the delightfully old-fashioned work of Moscow-based artist Elena Limkina. Every week, she offers the world a glimpse into her personal sketchbook, and its pages tell vivid stories of nature, architecture, and classical paintings.
Though Limkina specializes in watercolour materials, sheâs also very handy with a dip pen, and uses both to bring shadows and luminosity, respectively, to various botanical and scientific illustrations. âI have been painting since childhood,â she writes on her official website. âIâve been studying medical engineering, but my passion for fine arts has taken precedence.â A wide variety of influences have clearly come to bear on her style, such as Baroque, Renaissance, and perhaps a touch of modernism; her flower paintings wouldnât look out of place in the portfolio of Georgia O'Keefe.

âYear in Japanâ by Erin Nicholls
Erin Nicholls is young Australian painter and illustrator. In 2016 she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Griffith University, majoring in Art History.
The beautifully detailed illustrative work by Erin Nicholls shows us urban scenes that have been influenced by her travels. She uses a restricted and controlled color palette that is well balanced along with her realistic illustrations. Regularly involving a lonely figure with their back to the viewer reminding us of a stunning Studio Ghibli film still.

Richard Stainthorp Creates Magic with Wire
Creating movement from metal wire, English Sculptor Richard Stainthorpâs creations move and live in ways that seem impossible.  His angels soar, while mere mortals fall, and mythical creatures straight from  Shakespeareâs  A Midsummer Nightâs Dream flaunt their wire forms.  Why buy art?  To have a little piece of this magic.  Thanks to weezbo.com!
