I finally gave in and did one of those cool pokemon variations going around \o/ I picked Chikorita (my radish baby) for mine and it’s based on different parents, mainly the father! I’ve always liked the idea that when breeding 2 different species from the same egg group, while the offspring will always be the same specie as the mother, it still carries traits of the father.

Hey guys! Apologies for the recent inactivity, I’ve been working hard on getting my pokemon crossbreed zine ready for this year AX. It will include these, my chikorita and riolu crossbreeds and 7 more pokemon! It’s almost done and I will post more about it soon, so stay tuned!

Well, not exactly because I said I’d be getting some episodes out around now but whatever. I’m aiming to get at least a few out in the next few weeks before college starts up again and I inevitably have to go back to a molasses-tier release speed. In this episode, we finish up the “Dark Yo-kai Watch” segment (which had its moments but I’m not gonna miss it much overall) and the “InaUSA Yo-kai Mystery Files” segment. If I remember correctly this is the last multi-episode Inaho segment in the entire show, which is a shame because I can’t think of a single one that wasn’t a great time. I would have happily traded all 50 episodes of Busters T for more Inaho tbh But thankfully, the English dub’s just gotten to them a while back so you can watch them all over again! It’s also gotten to a number of things I’ve subbed in the last year and a half, which is weird because it’s technically only at a little over 100 episodes…yeah the airing order doesn’t exist anymore. So between my last release and this one, Europe got the English-localized version of YW3 (they went straight to Sukiyaki 4.0!), so now we can discuss dub names along with the Japanese because why not. Today’s “YotD” (Yo-kai of the Day…I should use this from now on) was Okiracoon, whose name comes from okiraku (お気楽), which means comfortable and easygoing among other things, and the English word “raccoon” (or racoon, take your pick - it can technically be spelled both ways, which I didn’t know until researching for this :V). And this probably isn’t intentional, but it also makes me think of the verb okiru (熾きる), which can mean “to be kindled” (as in a fire). You can say that’s what happens when Okiracoon gets upset. Okiracoon’s official English name is Slackoon; simple and obvious enough, but gets the job done. I also thought I’d explain the pun behind one of Whisper’s incorrect names for this Yo-kai: another word for raccoon is araiguma (洗い熊). Now separate the components: arai  (洗い), cleaning, and kuma (熊), bear. So that’s where that bear washing thing comes from. Clever.
