this may be a hot take but as much as i love “bitty teaches dex to bake 🥰” headcanons, i don’t really feel like that’s exactly how it works out.
i feel like bitty, while being good at baking, is not as talented when it comes to cooking actual meals. like he’s better than the average person but he’s much better at baking. that’s where his talents lie.
he tries to pass this knowledge onto dex who, just......doesn’t get it. like he’s fine at baking, passable and definitely better than any other members of the smh, but it’s just not his preferred method of making food.
so when bitty leaves, instead of just baking, dex starts cooking more. we’re talking different comfort food dishes for the team when they’re upset, old family recipes, the whole shebang. his food is mouth watering and anyone who’s had it will tell you so.
yeah, he still bakes the standard recipes that bitty made (he left some photocopies of the recipes behind), but he kind of does his own thing. he’s discovered his way of showing he cares through food: home cooked meals that don’t always break the diet plan.
and yeah, he’s not bitty, but he doesn’t have to be.
