HTML5 is the next version of HTML. It introduces a lot of new elements that surely will make our webpage more semantic.  There are few new specific tags for marking up part of the page, like header, navigation, footer and sidebar. So instead of using divs, we now can use the more appropriate tagging, such as nav is for navigation elements like menu bar or next/previous links, and section is to define a section in a page, that you can nest one section inside each other. This will help the search engine as well to define what's in our page, what's the content. 

While CSS3 is adding a lot of new stuff, like new properties, new selectors. Although unfortunately, some properties are still not supported by browsers. You can do tables that will do the same thing as float, you can do box shadow and rounded corners as well. 

GIF Graphics Interchange Format, is a bitmap image format and has been widely used in world wide web because of its portability and efficient. This format supports 8 bits per pixel,  and the colors are chosen from the 24-bit RGB space. It also able to perform animations. Because of its limitation of color, this file format would not be good to reproduce color photographs and images with complicated, continuous color, but it will be well used for simple logos or graphics with solid areas of color.

JPEG Joint Photographic Experts Group, is a lossy image compression that is usually used for digital photos across the web because its capability of displaying millions of colors at once. JPEG compression also can be chosen according to the purpose of use, with 80& compression, the quality will degrade but it will result in a small size file. JPEG may lack ability of transparency or animation like GIF or PNG has, but anyway JPEG is usually used for photos.

PNG Portable Network Graphics, the PNG-8 is quite similar to GIF format, it can support 256 colors and support 1-bit transparency. File size of a PNG will be smaller than GIF,  as PNGs save the color data more efficiently. PNG-24 support more colors, but shouldn't be used as replacement for JPEG because PNG is a loss-less compression. Transparency and small file size is the plus-side of PNG

SVG Scalable Vector Graphics is like HTML for graphic. It's describing aspects of an image or web application by using markup languange. It allows fully scalable, smooth, reusable graphics for simple graphics to the complex ones, from low quality to the high quality. SVG is now widely supported by modern browsers (although sometime plugin is needed) and also on mobile devices

MP3 MPEG Layer 3 sound file is a sound file format that's compressed and have a downloadable file sizes with great quality.

ZIP Zipped files are groups of different types of files kept together, providing small and compact size of file that consists bigger files, which is really efficient if we ever need to send various files, it's like packing our clothes to a suitcase. :D

Web Standards is specifications for websites, made by different organizations that set different sides of the web standard, including : World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Internet Engineering Task Force, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Ecma International, Unicode Consortium, and Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. 

The standards cover almost area of a website, such as HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, DOM, MathML, SVG, URL, etc. Web standards is set to give a maximal user experience and making sure that the website is accessible by all kind of users, including for people who have difficulties in reading the text on the screen and need audio support to be able to obtain information.

Semantically correct code, using the right element that matches the meaning and purpose.

Content structure (HTML, XHTML), Presentation (CSS), and Interaction (Java Script) are separated, which actually also for our own benefit, such as : we know where to look for and place code, and we can easily reference and re-use it across the entire site 

Web standards may change for time to time due to the change and development of technology. Web designers can make sure their web sites fulfill the standard and validated by using W3C's Validator, - Unicorn.

La Papiere will be divided to two big categories, La Papiere artisté which will be for the people who like scrapbooking or other paper crafts stuff, while La Papiere CMYK will be for printers, corporates, designers, who will mostly need printable paper, that's why the name is CMYK.

For those who own a Mac, and wondering how to write html pages with TextEdit, I've found the way how to do it. When you make a new file on TextEdit, choos Format>Make Plain Text. Then save it, adding the .html extension. untick the "if no extension is provided, use ".txt" box, and save it. e.g : website.html. 

booom! there you go, u'll be able to do it as how you do it on windows' notepad. 

Who is La Papiere? La Papiere is a new paper designer and distributor located in Sydney, Australia. They will be providing various types of papers for graphic designers, artists, printers and publishers, as well as specially designed paper for stationery, packaging or scrapbooking. Basically, it is a one stop shop for all paper needs. It will need to differentiate itself from competitors that some of whom have been existed in business for 50 years or more. La Papiere will be fresh, innovative, cutting edge, with unique and high quality products. 

Purpose La Papiere's nature as a business would result in making a profit as one of its primary goals. Its objectives are also to expand their services internationally so they can reach more international business partners and greater market. La Papiere will be a good choice for nowadays society that is environment-concerned and who is after a high quality products with reasonable and affordable price. 

Content Requirements All of the contents of La Papiere's website should be viewable in Ipads, Iphones, and Macs, which means there should be no Flash content in it. The website will show product range, types of paper, clear explanation on each paper, company information, brief history of La Papiere; including the executives and founders of la Papiere, Store Location and Contact Informatioin, Paper Selector and a page for requesting sample papers. La Papiere's website will also be showing their existence in the business world (existing and previous clients whom La Papiere has supported materially) and also their support to charity or non-profit organizations.

1836                         Telegraph was used to transmit messages between one another without physical letter. Later after that year, Samuel FB Morse developed Morse Code which  emboss paper with dots and dashed lines.  He also made the codes transmitted by wires.

1876 Telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell . Actually there were some other people who tied on developing a voice-transmitter , telephone, but only Bell who was patented the first by United States Patent and Trademark Office. Telephone was a success improvement of electrical telegraph. In the telephone, the microphone converts the sound waves to electrical signals, which are sent through the telephone network to the other phone, where they are converted back to sound waves by the earphone in the other phone's handset.

1957 The first Satelite, Sputnik, is launched by USSR which marks the beginning of global teltecommunications and data transmission.  The launch of Sputnik also led directly to the creation of National Aeronautics and Space Act (NASA). After its launch, a lot of satellites were being launched as well by many different countries. The first American satellite to relay communications was Project SCORE in 1958, which used a tape recorder to store and forward voice messages.. Communication Satellites are used to provide a microwave radio relay and to transmit data as well.

1969 Internet is born when ARPANET is commissioned by the US Department of Defense (DoD) for research into networking.  The first ARPANET link was established between the University of California, Los Angeles and the Stanford Research Institute on 22:30 hours on October 29, 1969. The Arpanet then grew rapidly and became the technical foundation of what we call Internet today.

1965 ARPANET developed e-mail and made ways for people to communicate over a network. The first email system was MAILBOX, used at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1965. Another early program to send messages on the same computer was called SNDMSG. Ray Tomlinson, ARPANET contractor, is credited with email invention in 1972. He chose the “@” symbol from the computer keyboard to send messages from one computer to another. The format was name-of-the-user@name-of-the-computer. This format has lasted to this day.

1984 The “.com” era is born with the introduction of the Domain Name Server, allowing URL addresses (eg: http://www.google.com) rather than IP addresses (eg: 123.456.789.10). Paul Mockapetris invented this Domain Name System. This invention was really important in Internet future at that time. It has made us to remember names of the websites a lot easier!

1994 At this early year of the mainstream internet, Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com. It is launched in 1994. At that moment, he wanted to grow of a business on the Web. He saw the potential of the internet; while the largest brick-and mortar bookstore might sell up to 200,000 titles, an online bookstore could sell many times more.  It has grown its range to home appliances,  CDs, video games, pet supplies, and many more until this day.

1998            Google launched. It was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Ph.D, students at Stanford who began a research project in March 1996. They were working on the Stanford Digital Library Project (SDLP). The SDLP's goal was “to develop the enabling technologies for a single, integrated and universal digital library."The domain google.com was registered on September 15, 1997. Then it was launched in 1998. Its original index had 26 million pages. Google has been the most know search engine. In fact, it has a lot of impact in Internet users and the word “Google” has been brought into our everyday conversation. The verb, "google," was added to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary in 2006, meaning, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet."

2003 Skype, a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet (VoIP) is launched. Skype was founded by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis. You can make voice and video calls to other computers for free. It also offers other facilites such as voice calls to mobile number and also SMS. It’s so convenient especially for those who need to communicate with their family or friends that are overseas.

2004 Facebook was found by Mark Zuckerberg. It was only for Harvard University only , the Uni where Mark studied. He made that for him and his friends to know each other better. But then it grew so fast that in the end it was made open for internet public. Since then, Facebook has grown more and more until today, that its popularity even has beaten MySpace, a social media site that once was popular. Although a lot of good things and some bad things happened because of Facebook  (status,  privacy, inappropriate content or comments) but it still a good way somehow of getting connected with new and old friends around the globe.
