ik this blog has been dead for almost a year now, but I just wanted to come back to say that I Saw the TV Glow did actual psychic damage to me. I was just sitting there in this stupid art house movie theater with my empty popcorn bucket watching the end credits going oomph eugh ooggh oufff

seriously insane shit right there. Ruined my whole day. I seriously couldn’t focus on anything for the next twelve hours. Couldn’t eat, couldn’t get any work done. Couldn’t even Minecraft or doomscroll. (Favorite activities). I grew up as the kid who treated TV like religion. I watched southpark obsessively in middle school because it was my only point of access to being a boy. All my male rolemodels, all the people I wanted to be like, who I saw myself in were men from television. I remember being in sixth grade and having a counselor ask me what kind of person I wanted to be, and the only answer I had was “Seth Meyers from SNL” (he had actually left SNL at that point but I watched clips of him on YouTube and shit) because all of my relationships were between me and a TV screen.

anyway I just wanted to add my review to the pile 8/10 stars could’ve done with fewer lingering shots on people’s faces
