c!Wilbur smoking originally comes from Karl Jacob's "Dream SMP with Niki!!!" November 2nd 2020 vod, aka Niki's Birthday Party, where c!Wilbur vapes/smokes with c!Quackity. It like switches between being described as a vape pen and as a cigarrette and is represented by a soul torch (which is why people initially drew his cigarettes as blue)

The only other instance of c!Wilbur smoking in canon was Hitting on 16, but this was well after it became popular in fanart.
