I dont remmeber who on here said it but it was like a post that was saying that society's fixation on 'mean girls' exists because it contradicts the gender role women are expected to fit into all the while being mean is basically a standard for boys. It was a really eye opening take i hadnt fully considered before but its so fucking true. People love hating the mean girl but at the same time have no problem being buddies with dudes who act 10 times worse. There exists a stereotype about women as two faced gossiping bitches but in my experience its been more often men who talk shit about other people behind their backs. Adult men! And even when the shittalking doesnt concern any specific person men will literally frequently take part in these "masculinity enforcing rituals" where they just mock women as some sort of bonding ritual. I've overheard it so much its frustrating and depressing
