Connie O'Brien loved words as a kid. She spent most of her days filling notebooks with stories and comic strips. During college, she pursued a literature degree that led into writers' rooms and then a staff job on a late-night show. When she pitched her own show, execs balked that audiences wouldn't watch a woman host comedy. She retreated to stand-up for years, feeling defeated. But, as luck would have it, a network needed a replacement host. Despite the brutal press, her novelty won viewers over. Fame didn't change her at all; she stayed close with her writers, seeing them as friends over employees. Oddly, she can't stay outside long. Colleagues whisper her skin sags in heat, and her dressing room stays mysteriously icy. No one's proven she's nothing but human.
