I know this isn't exclusive to the TADC fandom, but it really highlights people's lack of media analysis skills. People are analyzing the show simply based on their feelings and whether they like it/the characters or not instead of what the show actually does right or wrong, and there are so many bad faith interpretations it's actually unreal.
People really need to understand that "it would have been more interesting if the show had gone in x direction" and "I wish this secondary/tertiary/background character had more development" is NOT criticism of the show, it's a wish. There's nothing wrong with wishes, but at that point just write fanfiction. Criticism is about looking at the execution, not the ideas.
And many people skip over an important step of analysis:actually analyzing. You need to read/watch it very carefully and several times and, when criticizing/analyzing, you MUST provide the scenes as proof of what you're saying, not just vibes or your faulty memory.
A huge example of this is people saying that Jax feeling bad for Kaufmo abstracting was a retcon... when there was actually a huge discussion when the 1st episode came out about Jax looking sad and avoiding his funeral. I understand that there was a huge amount of time between the 1st episode and the last, but this is why you can't purely rely on your memory.
A lot of people give criticism because it looks easy and think it makes them look smart, but there's more to the process, it's not just reading/watching it once and telling everyone what you think about it. There's nothing wrong about writing your first impressions, by the way, but you can't disguise it as analysis.
