Liz couldn’t help but notice the look on Red’s face when he had brushed the snowflakes from her lashes.  She’d thought he’d been about to kiss her. She’d wanted him to.  But at the last moment he’d turned away and hailed the cab.  He’d been quiet on the way back to the hotel.  She was determined that she was finally going to break through those walls he had created around himself.  When they arrived back at the hotel, Liz waited for Red to hang up their coats and then reached up and slowly pulled the pins out of her hair.  She shook her head lightly until her hair fell down and brushed her shoulders.  

I’m going to need help with this zipper again. Would you mind?

Liz stepped into her bedroom and waited for Red to follow her.

He followed her into the room, stepped closer and slowly unzipped the dress.  He turned to leave so she could change but Liz’s hand on his arm stopped him.  He froze and watched, stunned as she let the red dress fall to the floor, leaving her clad only in a black satin slip.  He remained speechless as Liz carefully stepped out of the dress and reached for the lapels of his jacket.

Liz slipped off Red’s jacket as he gaped at her and then reached for the buttons of his waistcoat.  He put his hand on her wrist to halt her.

Red inhaled the scent of her hair and took his hand and cupped her cheek.  She was right.  He had never wanted anyone or anything more in his life.  

He gazed deeply into her eyes as his heart beat faster and then bent forward slowly and pressed his lips against hers as he ran his hands up and down the smooth satin on her back.  Eventually he broke the kiss and took a step back, her hands in his.
